Intel Inside On The Out
by Maarten Goldstein, Dec 30, 2005 8:15am PSTAfter many years Intel is set to replace its Intel Inside slogan, switching over to the goofy "Leap ahead" as the company starts a rebranding campaign. As part of this campaign, Intel will also change its logo. Additional details of the campaign will be unveiled during next week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Thanks Tech Report.

And despite all this, they still have a stranglehold on Dell. They can sure push chips, and they have many fabs that can provide (versus AMD, which announced a packaging shortage this month), but the last two years haven't been good for Intel, between the "Prescott is hot LOL" release, the axing of Tejas and Jayhawk, watching from the side as AMD rolls out the Athlon 64 series, the Opterons, and the dual-core models of both the Athlon 64 and Opteron. It seems the only records Intel has set in the past year are new high water marks for thermal design power.

Pentium M? Pentium D?
And you said it was too confusing before? Before, it was "The higher the number, the better" for the average user. This is just nonsense.

Yes, this is horrible, this idea.
not quoting the bible or anything, but TDP for the *fastest* Intel Core's will be 30watts. On the AMD 64s alone it's 89Watts. Those are peak figures, in idle mode both would be less, but the Intel would probably be even better in this regard (since it's a mobile chip).

This much more something slogan will invoke feelings of something, and make people warm and fuzzy about that nebulous thing, just like a colour.
My excitement knows no bounds and scales like a Pentium 4 on crack. Picture me sitting down trying to keep from falling asleep with excitement, slowly twirling one finger half-heartedly above my head.
Yay.
