It drives me batty how when you're using Photoshop and you do something simple like draw a narrow line using a brush tool and CPU usage goes through the roof. I mean seriously, how much processing power can changing the color of 20 pixels a second really take? Photoshop isn't exactly in it's first iteration either. It seems like it'd run more efficiently.

Anyway, does it do this on Macs too? Since the OSX desktop actually utilizes the GPU, does the CPU still go crazy when doing simple operations in Pshop?

I've heard that Vista has a similar setup, with a 3D accellerated desktop. I'm hoping this is the case so that things like Pshop or moderately complex flash animations don't rape my CPU.

Hi Shack. I finished watching Firefly last night and plan to see Serenity in the next few days. I need some healthy discussion though. There are more than a few plot points that they alluded to but were unable to explore. For example, what's the deal with Book? He was arguably my least favorite character but I still want to know why the Alliance was so friendly with him. Also what was going to happen with Inara? Was she really going to go? She had feelings for Malcolm, man... It's just not right. And when would River finally start to kick some ass. What role would she fulfill on the ship? I was waiting for it. I hope that the movie covers some of this. It was a pretty fun show to watch. Next up: Band of Brothers.

Animal crossing: DS help:

I picked up the game last night - started fishing and collecting shells for profit, and paid off my mortgage, and had the house expanded. Today I see that the new mortgage is 120,000 shells, and the general store will be closed tomorrow... Does anybody have any tips on how to get rich quick in the game - is beachcombing the best/only way until I can find a shovel? So Far the store has only given me a fishing pole and a watering can - there was a butterfly net last night but i didn't buy it - how long does one have to wait for good stuff to show up generally?

Also - what is medicine for?

I have to go through a bunch of PDF files in explorer to find a specific page with the data I need on it, but when I go to thumbnail view all that pops up are a bunch of frames with just a PDF symbol in the middle. How do I set up my folders where the thumbnail view will actually show a small preview of the file?

Just finished replaying "The Curse of Monkey Island" after digging it out of my old games collection a few days ago. I forgot how much fun that one was back in the day. I still love the graphics design on that one(it has aged very very well)...about the only thing that looks dated is a bit of pixilation which can be tweaked with some scummvm antialiasing and some aliased text.

I also had forgotten how abrupt and awkward the game ends, which is a shame, since the rest was enjoyable but it has always fet like they just rushed the end instead of fleshing it out.
