Bethesda has released several new screenshots from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, showing off the gameworld as well as the character creation screen. There's also a new team diary on the official website, covering the magic system.

I thought the magic system sucked in Morrowind, seeing as how to most powerful spells didn't look or feel any cooler than the weak spells.

I'll throw out a guess here and say two things.

1, those are Xbox screenshots - from the widescreen ratio, (16:9, not 16:10 like PC widescreens) also the filename on the shack is obx???.jpg

2, if I'm right, AGAIN we're seeing Xbox screenshots which are 1024x576 and NOT 1280x720..... why - is this a resolution the dev machines run at or a problem with the power in the Xbox (PGR3 is apparently "blocky" in parts) - who knows... but it'd be interesting to know if dev's are "cheating" by doing 1024x576 instead of 1280.

Many effects have gotten this treatment. Thanks to Havok physics, Paralysis, in addition to being a crippling tactical nightmare, is now also totally hilarious. Nothing says Ã¢Â€Âœstep offÃ¢Â€Â like freezing your opponent solid and watching him fall flat on his face!
