I wonder if it's wrong to expect people to have at least seen the original, or to at least acknowledge that things are done a certain way because it is a remake (or "tribute" as I like to think of it).
This is in regards to a few points that I've seen more than a couple of people complain about after the few screenings that have occured.
1. They completely skip over Kong coming to NYC, and instead go straight from knocking him out to having him on display. This, of course, is one of the originals memorable scenes. I'm glad Jackson didn't fill in the gap with made-up story.
2. Why they didn't take a dinosaur instead of Kong back with them. This is a pretty lame criticism, considering it wouldn't be the same movie
3. "Hokey" dialogue, especially in reference to the last line. If they took out the last line, it wouldn't be the same. The original had quite a few "hokey" lines.
The one valid criticism that I think may be true is that apparently Kong is "nicer" in the new version. The old Kong killed quite a few people, many by simply eating them, or in one case throwing them off a building. This seems to be missing from the new version, and I think that could be a negative. Kong is supposed to be a wild animal, even primates in the zoo can be dangerous, imagine what a normal one could do.

What is your preferred method of shipping? I don't really want to spend more than $15.00, but want it to get to the destination in a reasonable amount of time.

"If you need delivery confirmation for an item to the U.S.A. and don't need guaranteed delivery, Expedited Parcel - U.S.A. is your economical alternative." Don't need guaranteed delivery!?! What does that mean? The other ones don't mention guaranteed delivery at all either, though. :(

i had been leaning towards the a610 because i have a feeling it's going to be a better quality image (plus it's cheaper...$300 final cost is my limit)
but lately i start to realize that i might not want to put up with a semi bulky camera, since i'm going to want to throw it in my pocket and take it with me and not have to worry about it.
any thoughts on the two models?

So Dante had mentioned to me that when the Atlanta crew had their shackmeet, they didn't find Dave & Buster's as... "fun" as they thought it would be. Everyone ended up wandering around playing on their own and on their next shackmeet they had a much better time just sitting around and chatting. I can certainly see how that could be the case.
So the question I present to you is: do we want to go ahead with our plans to eat @ McBride's and follow-up and D&B, or do we want to plan something more, uh.. intimate? (shudder) Perhaps meet at iscariot47's place in midtown, head out for drinks/eats in Westport or downtown, then back to his place for some 360 action and general chattiness?
Just a thought. I can go for either one, really.

We can, of course, track links to our stories, which I sometimes like to peruse so I can see the feedback from people who don't write me directly. On one message board for a large gaming site (which shall remain anonymous), I found a small group of people who actually believed that what I wrote about Gates was true!
So if you play as a Night Elf and get some sort of weird comments about Steve Balmer or Blue Screens of Death in the next few days, sorry.

So I wanna get my parents a 2005FPW for Christmas. I already missed out on that $334 deal from last week. Then they bumped the 20% off down to 15% off, so it's pretty pricey now. But that 15% off ends tomorrow, at which point it's back to full price.
Do I:
a) buy it now and eat the relatively high price, but have it in plenty of time for Christmas
b) let this sale lapse in the hopes that a better one will come along in the next week or so? How often does Dell run these things anyway?
c) ?????
d) profit!
Basically I'm wondering if anybody has odds on them running another serious sale before Christmas, or if I should just take the plunge now and get it over with.

Tunes like NIN's Right where it belongs, Our Lady Peace's Clumsy. Something about that sound screams comfort with sorrow. Hard to explain it. First time I heard that sound on OLPs track, I fell in LOVE with the tune. Still love the track, as the NIN track is growing large on me.
I can only compare it to a lost love that came back to say she is here to stay.

Gameplay videos that are long and rich in content but don't give away too much. Really invaluable. "cinematic" trailers, or even worse the videos where developers talk (much love for the devs, but they're not in the business because they're pretty and talk good) about the game need to go. Tonnes of screenshots need to go.
One large video, and not too much information besides it is what got me with Prey. And it will hook me with other games too. Take for example the HL2 vids. There was in fact too many. Of course, it worked like a charm anyway, simply because a) they were gameplay orientated b) they were nothing BUT gameplay, so it wasn't some sort of carouselle of gameplay snippets intersected with bullshittery,
What gets me more excited then seeing how much fun I COULD have playing a game? Literally! It's almost the same thing as releasing a demo.
Here's hoping for lots more gameplay orientated promo material in the future.

Seems like a good game to play on the handheld when you're on the public transit and want something to take up the time.
On a sidenote this game is so much easier on my thumb than Mario Kart. Had to take a break from that game because of the pain during playing.

Something's been irking me about this recently and it just really pissed me off while watching The Triangle on sci fi. Minor spoilers ahoy (really minor, promise) so read at your own risk...
The broad faced man(neeno ? meeno ?) and his wife have been in a normal married relationship (apparently) until just now when he starts to hallucinate. Instead of trying to stand by him, comfort him and help him through this...she says HE has to figure it out or she`s leaving him...
Maybe im just old fashioned, but if either me or my wife have any problems, we confide in each other, we help each other deal with it and we certainly dont threaten seperation without a moments delay. She's my 'other half' for a reason...she helps me through whatever i need help with and im there for her when she needs me. Instead of standing far away and threatening seperation she'd come and hug me and help me out.
This portrayal perhaps only servers to further drive people away from marriage...
/end emo.
But it's not only shipping costs.
Remember when eBay was free to post? Those were the good times. I love the idea of a consumer driven market too. It appears though, the guys just looking to screw over people migrate to eBay so they can *hide* behind a virtual world of protection. Same deal with the xbox 360's going for insane prices. I understand "supply and demand" but you had people buying/stealing/whatever multiple 360's for this very reason. So it seems the market has created a "anti-market" against the line of free consumer buying power.
People know they can fraud you--just like in real life. Ebay seems not to care because these people make them money; so basically the question is. Who has created these ideologies on Ebay currently? A combination of the both?
But eBay does have good points.
You can get an item from anywhere on the globe. Of course for a certain "price." I wish there were more honest sellers on eBay I suppose--the idea of what it became bothers me for some reason.

So last night draconic and I spent 3 or 4 hours going between eachothers towns doing random things, such as fishing, chatting with the villagers, beautifying the environment, etc. I guess draconic took it upon himself to completely suck up to one of my villagers, a female rabbit named Bella (more on this later). Anyhow, draconic decided he was going to start his village over today, so we decided before we ended our game for the night, to completely and utterly obliterate his village by chopping down all the trees, pulling up all his flowers etc. I took out my axe, and he his shovel, and destroy we did.
Fast forward to today. I wake up in my house and hop out of bed and make my way to the mailbox. Oh look, I have mail! I open it up and find FOUR LETTERS FROM DRACONIC'S VILLAGERS INSTRUCTING ME TO STOP CHOPPING THEIR TREES DOWN! They were NOT happy with me :(
Then I decide I'll go visit my villagers to brighten up my spirits. I stop by Bella's house first. As I talk to her, she tells me she met the most charming man yesterday, that he was brave, handsome, and quiet; and that his name was draconic. Hearts then appeared around her head. Attempting to talk to her again, she told me "You're not draconic, I'd rather think about him!". And finally "draconic is a much better fisher than you are!".
My life is pain :(

I've been looking around at this camera and it seems fucking awesome. For the S2, 640x480 video mode, stereo sound, 12x zoom!! 5 megapixels, continuous shooting mode at like 2.4fps, image stabilization... Anything bad about this camera, aside from it's relatively large size? This camera seems like a great step-up from my Powershot A80...

You know how lame it is when you're playing a first-person shooter and they reach a point late in the story where they strip you of all your weapons? Yeah, well it was kinda like that... Except instead of giving you a chance to get your stuff back, you're just kinda-sorta up against the last boss. And it's not a beatable end boss either. It's one of those "Survive for (X amount of time) before running away" bosses too.
I was never a fan of the stories that EA felt the need to graft onto their recent NFS games. This one, however... This one made me abhor it. Never mind the fact it blatantly stolen from The Fast and the Furious, in their attempt to keep the game cinematic, EA marred the experience and spoiled the ending. Why would you produce such a fun and engaging racing mechanic and yet add as much superfluous shit as you can to spoil the experience? I'm guessing that the guys programmed the game knew what the fuck, but the guys trying to market the game are the ones that need to be run over in the middle of the street.
Luckily, I've still got a bunch of storyless milestone challenges to complete. Ah, such sweet running-your-ass-off-from-the-cops bliss!

I have only made one payment on this damn car, it cost me 22k. The dealer said that the car was flagged for mods and ergo no warranty work. My mechanic said he might be able to salvage the transmission but he can't gurantee it will work for more then 6 months to a year.
I called the place that I bought the car and they are well, thats the cost of buying a used car.
What can I do, I can't afford a new transmission, or another car at that. I love this freaking car but the more I work on it the more I find problems.

My sweet ol' Grandma sent me a friendly email this morning, asking me what I wanted for Xmas this year. I am currently torn between getting the DS and the PSP. It is a common fact that DS is King among Shackers but I really dont know what games I would play. On PSP on the other hand, there is GTA:LCS, SOCOM, and Burnout, 3 games I know I will enjoy. Animal Crossing and MK:DS both look fun but are they worth buying a new system over? Thanks!

well today i saw something that tops that. some bread loaf in town here wearing his SWEAT PANTS with the waistband around his knees. i could tell he was trying to act all tough too.
i don't care how hard you are, wearing sweatpants out around town just makes you look like you're unemployed and unable to maintain your own hygene.
