Until then I'm having a blast with the Nintendo DS. It shipped with Mario Kart and I also picked up Sonic Rush. Having some problems with the wifi so I haven't had the opportunity to play Mario Kart online yet, so I'm spending most of my time with Sonic Rush instead. This type of Sonic just doesn't get old for me. All those 3D versions, those games are nonsense, but crazy sidescroller style, yeah thats the good stuff. It's really cool how both screens are used - as in depending on how high or low in a level you are, Sonic will appear on one screen or the other. Also on FileShack
- Neuro Hunter demo - some Russian made sci-fi action game.
- Quake 4 Domination v1.0 - dominate some people.

While I personally had some problems with it ( http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=11177649 ) the whole install process IS very simple, and if it worked properly on my system it would have been a 5 minute job. I already had a copy of splinter cell, so all I needed to do was hack together a crossover cable at work, and pick up an action replay on the way home. The files for the softmod and new dashboard came in one convenient all-in-one download. (It comes with files for PAL and the other two game exploits)
BTW, my problems involved errors where the installer couldn't properly unRAR files and put them in the right place. My fix ended up with me finding the XML file used to script the commands, find out what it was putting where, and doing it manually via the FTP connection. I'm not sure why I had the problems, it was weird that it just couldn't copy the files.
I've gotta appreciate the guys who put these packages together, much less the emulators. I haven't messed around with XBMC or playing DVDs or anything yet.

For the hayride, our own ShackSanta will use his big-red Toyota Tundra to pull a 20’ flatbed-trailer loaded with hay. You see, his reindeer need to rest up back at the North Pole - for their big night to follow. This is the eve of the eve, you know. Also, in lieu of elves, Santa’s helper will recruit from among y’all to serenade or yodel a Christmas tune from the hayride flatbed. It’s the going price – or not - for hot chocolate. If your singing sucks, hot chocolate can be your please be quiet bribe.
Be sure you’ve brought warm outerwear (layers) to bundle up for the hayride! We'll have a box of hand-warmers, just in case.
This isn’t at a time when 75 or so shackers can be here – such as during Quakecon – but this promises to be a cozy and fun group if you’re going to be in Texas. Come on down!
BTW, we timed this hayride to coincide with the return of our beloved next-door-neighbor, Chod. He’s serving as a civilian in Iraq – returning December 22nd. Chod and Debbie and their son want to welcome Daddy home for the holidays. We’re suckers for this kind of thing. Hope you are too. Yay for Chod!

Can someone Newegg link me to the items I'll need for this. Meaning I have no fkn clue which mobo/ram/vidcard to get.
I've used AMD Athlon XPs but want to switch to Intel. That's my only caveat.
Would like Intel proc, 2 gig of ram, decent case with 450 or higher PS, and a hot shit video card.

I have ~$800 to spend on a computer upgrade. I have not upgraded in 4 years. I couldn't even name the kind of RAM/Mobo I have anymore.
I need three things in that $800 - a new CPU, a new mobo, and a new video card. I want to go PCI Express, get a 7800 card of some sort, and preferrebaly a dual core AMD 64 of some sort. Things like new RAM, new hard drives, new case, etc. will likely come later.
So - any advice on how to proceed?

- Rubber membrane suspension (not spring, not buckled spring, etc.,)
- Standard 104-key layout with the backslash key a wide rectangular key right over the Enter key (in other words, no double-high Enter key).
- 6-key rollover (pressing the keys SDFJKL simultaneously must result in all six letters printing out, and not in only three printing out and not in less than six letters printing out and the PC speaker beeping).
My current keyboard is a Sun PS/2 keyboard (P/N 320-1256-01) and meets all these criteria except the 6-key rollover test. This means that it craps out when I try to play FPSes and hold down more than a certain number of keys. I have an IBM keyboard that is 6-key rollover, but its key weight is far more than 55 grams.
Ergonomic keyboards will not be considered. Logitech and Microsoft keyboards will not be considered. USB keyboards will not be considered (I need something that will work in any BIOS). Relocation assistance not available. Equal opportunity employer. :-P

Why does Blizzard keep churning out large-group-oriented end-game content? The game won it's great success and popularity due to its accessibility to the regular game player. From 0-60, you can be independent and have a great time playing. Even the group stuff only needs 2-5 people, and you can often find random others to help you on short notice.
Content patch after content patch we get a bunch of shit that requires considerable dedication to gain access to. The people that exploit that content are not the people generating most of the revenue.
With the expansion, it looks to be more of the same.
I really wish Blizzard would fucking stop adding 20-40 man instances. I wish they would stop adding battlegrounds that are mostly worthless to the average player because the ranks are relative. Those instances and battlegrounds are cool, but they are not things that you can reasonably persue without ridiculous dedication.
Why can't they add very long solo quest lines that end in epic equipment? It will take a long time and a lot of gameplay to get the purple, but you can do it on your own and eventually you will get there.
What the fuck happened? They had so many good ideas and built a game that brought millions of players to the table. Then, they spent the following YEAR adding more and more content that requires a ridiculous amount of gameplay and interaction to access and complete. All that money and man-hours building additional game that rewards the wrong customers.
You play zero to 60 thinking this time someone got it right, then you get to 60 and you're suddenly playing any other MMORPG with a new set of graphics.

What I want to know is how I can get my DVDs to look right on the widescreen. I have a 15.4" widescreen laptop and DVDs fit the screen perfectly but on my 20" 2005FPW there are still HUGE black bars on the top and bottom and the screen looks super wide! WTF over.

This is instantly in my top games. I couldn't stop playing for the last 12 hours. The intensity never, ever lets up, the fighting is always fun, and there's no correct way to win. You can buy and use whatever weapons you like. I personally went with a maxed-out Punisher, L5 Striker, maxed-out TMP, and the occasional Magnum or Rifle round. I never used the Mine Launcher and only fired two Rocket rounds. But now I can replay and use totally different weapons.
