I bought.. and the game its hell crazy in the later levels...
Yes the beginning levels are boring... I was worried this was gonna be a Doom3 re-hash after playing the first couple levels...

But it got a HELL of alot better about 1/3 in.....

(except the vechical driving parts, those where not so much boring, just lame)

Meh graphics and meh gameplay.

The only great thing about this is the mouse movement. It's always so snappy and responsive in id engines. A joy to play. Too bad the games have sucked hard recently :)

If you guys like the demo, GoGamer.com has the DVD edition on sale for $32.90 for twenty-four more hours. It's an import, but it's region one, so any English patches released should work fine.

DVD edition comes with the full version of Quake 2 and all of it's expansion packs. Plus, you won't need to switch disks during the install, which is nice.

This is a steal, since the DVD edition is still going for $60 on EBGames.com.

The multiplayer works for me, and presumably also for the people I was playing against. Am I missing something here?

demos are worthless to me if they dont come out before the game

Why the hell couldn't they release it this time through? I mean, turning on MP and seeing it doesn't work sounds like it would be something you at least test before you set the demo loose.

Ouch. Burn. Quake 4 demo is a small story. So who's still playing the multiplayer elol?

Everyone assumes multiplayer is broken in this demo. Maybe it's just their way to say it's disabled? And next week (or whenever) they will release a MP demo?

So apparently this demo is the first two levels.. I found the first few levels quite boring actually. It gets a lot better later on, with weapon upgrades, more enemies etc. It's a bit harsh to judge it on the first two levels =(. It's not revolutionary but there's some great action and good fun to be had - at least I thought so.

Which single player level is in the demo? I came in expecting crap but I really enjoyed the game, I just hope they picked a good portion to put in the demo.

Sweet an addon for a demo.

Damn that was dark, I could barely see a thing even with brightness on full. There was nothing interesting about that demo at all, I've been there done that a hundred times before.

Well, as a defense to Quake 4, it gets better and better as you reach the later levels.

I like Raven (Heretic, SOF, JK2, etc.), but honestly, after playing this demo I just can't imagine actually buying this game.

The level design was really bland - almost everything was on one level, you can play through both levels without ever even using the jump key (I'm not asking for jumping puzzles or anything, but it was just so flat). I'm sure there are better levels in the full game (there would have to be) but this is what they chose to show us :/

Of the four weapons (pistol, assault rifle, nailgun, shotgun), only one had an alt-fire (zoom on the rifle) and there's no melee attack for any of them - boo urns.

The NPC interaction was uninteresting too, they either jabber at you for a few seconds (blah, blah, go here) or follow you from point A to B (I don't recall hearing any chatter from the AI when they follow you, but maybe they were lagging too far behind and I couldn't hear them).

I want to say something positive, but really - after playing through the demo, I just went straight for the uninstall :(

wow, i really wasnt very impressed w/the game.
i might purchase it once it hits the bargain bin (for the mp), but other than that, we pretty much played this game.
thats pretty weird, i love the quake series and got all of them xpansion pks, and i love soldier of fortune series, so why im i hating on this game?

Finished it in about 12 minutes.

I felt it was like Doom 3... IN SPACE. Which isn't a terrible thing, it just fails to excite me anymore. D3 was probably the last old-school shooter that I could stand.

Why don't they just wait? That's pretty shitty :|

Um, this game is the shit, really. I guess I'm glad that there is a demo for you to try. Try it then get it.
