Civilization IV Patch News

There's a note on the Civilization IV website from Firaxis' Dennis Shirk, who mentions that a patch for the game is currently undergoing testing by 2K Games. The patch will offer AI and performance improvements, and tweaks to gameplay, multiplayer and promotion.

I played the original Civilization waaay back when and didn't understand a bit of it. Now I'm 24 and play Civ4, making myself feel stupid all over again! I love the game but I just suck at it something awful. Kind of depressing actually, since I normally think of myself as a fairly hip/cool/knowledgeable gamer, though Alpha Centauri also whipped my ass. I think I need to read that "Sulla's Civ4 Page" site. :P

Hope they fix those memory leaks, after a few hours the game takes up over a Gig of my RAM, starting from stratch it takes up 670 MB, what the hell does it need to cache?

Right-clicking things in text boxes should bring up thier civlopedia entry. You can't convince me otherwise.

Actually, I don't really care as long as Alt-Tab works.

Thank fuck for that. Multiplayer online is impossible. My friends and I kept dropping connections during play. :(
