Windows2000 Performance

The guys at RivaStation posted some benchmarks with Quake3 and Incoming using the retail build of Windows2000 and a GeForce DDR card paired up against the same system running Windows98SE. It looks like Win98SE came out on top big. Of course the drivers for Windows2000 arent mature yet (considering it's not a released OS) While on the topic, FiringSquad has news that SMP (dual cpu support) now works in Quake3 with the release of the latest 3.68 detonator drivers. Personally I'm thinking I'll just wait 3-4 months after the Win2k release to decide if I wanna run it.

  • I have systems running both Win98SE and Win2000....

I prefer Win98SE to Windows 2000 for gaming. I like Win2000 for everything else.

The only videocard drivers I can find for Win2000 are beta shit drivers that resemble Win98 videocard drivers from 9 or 10 monthes ago... no thanks, I will stick with Win98SE until this O/S becomes 100% real.

And when MSFT does Millenium and/or finds drivers for Win2000 that match the Win98SE drivers, then I will go there, but not until then..

What good is dual cpu support if you cantz get da proper drivas? It would be Ho-ish to throw down like that and not know if the bitch is gonna work for you or not....
