Quake3 Mod Source
by Steve Gibson, Jan 15, 2000 6:22am PSTJust made it home, looks like the Quake3 source for all the mod makers has been released. You can grab it from the id Software ftp.Robert Duffy has made a .plan update to commemorate the occasion.
There is a "How to make a mod" text file included which shows the very basics of building the source for debugging ( Win32, Visual C++ ) and building the vms for distributing mods. It also shows steps to get your mod to run with the engine. PLEASE NOTE: The game source MUST BE INSTALLED in quake3 off of whatever drive you like. This is so the batch files and the lcc compiler can find all the right stuff for building vm's. The tool source and video compressor will be out next week. Other good mods, check out www.quake3mods.net (I might start reviewing maps there). I love Quake 3, ohhh it\'s soooo better than any game out - specially gh3y 455 qu4k3 cl0n3 Unreal Tournament, that game sucks isn\'t very good.
I just hope people don\'t make Counterstrike, Urban\'ish mods - that\'s all they did for Quake 2 and Half Life. It\'s shit, total shit - make something original. I got plenty of ideas but i\'m not going through with them.
Personally I want a mod like Postal (Anyone remember that?), I would be so happy killing little kids and defenseless old woman. Shit i\'m getting memories. *Cries*
