Maxtor Shipping New HDDs

Maxtor has announced new harddrives in the MaXLine, DiamondMax and QuickView lineup are now shipping to stores. There are new drives shipping with 500GB of capacity, along with 16MB of cache and SATA II support. Thanks Tech Report.

I have the 300gig 16 meg cache MaxLine II and I must say the drive is fantastic, a lot of storage and so much space, I highly recommend these 16 meg cache Maxtor drives

I'd never trust 500 gb worth of data to a single drive.. well not for a couple more years at least.

Half a terabyte on a single drive!!! Geez, never thought we'd see the day...

On the other hand, are there inherently more problems with bigger drives due to number of platters, etc? Like, they 're prone to failure more often?
