Bill Gates Steps Down
by Steve Gibson, Jan 13, 2000 3:00pm PSTJust got word of this ZDNet article with the news that Bill Gates has stepped down (and followup)from CEO responsibilities at Microsoft. The current Microsoft president Steve Ballmer will move up to CEO, and Bill will be moving over to chairman/head of software development. My guess is it's basically just maneuvering in response to the court cases brought against Microsoft but it's interesting to see 'the man' be shaken a bit.

I bet the words \"Epic\" and \"Sweeney\" just make you sweat don\'t they?
Come to mother baby let me hold you in my arms
M\'lud I never wanted him to get in any trouble
Why\'d he ever have to leave me
Worm your honour let me take him home
you should have talk to me more often than you did but no!
you had to go your own way - have you broken any home\'s up lately ?
just five minutes worm your honor - him , me , alone.
The only thing his wealth shows is that he\'s an excellent businessman. I don\'t give a flying fuck about how rich he is. I didn\'t start with that. I\'d rather be me without all his money than a spineless and slimy little creep like him _with_ all his money. The guy acted like an complete moron claiming not to understand even the simplest of terms in court because he couldn\'t stand up for himself and defend his actions without digging himself a legal grave.
\"In bill\'s case his wealth is a good indicator of his ability to provide something incredibly useful to millions and millions of ppl\"
Oh I guess you must be right and that it has nothing to do with the insane licensing scheme MS employs(ed): pay us for Windows each time you sell a PC no matter whether you install it or not.
I guess that Windows is a virtual monopoly which is viciously protected by predatory business practices has nothing to do with his wealth either.
Yupyup, I see your point now, Netscape (among others) just wasn\'t trying _hard_ enough. Ah, that must be it, if only they had had the foresight to write their own OS, become a monopoly, leverage that monopoly to distribute a free version of a product in order to gain market dominance.
You know all those cool games you play on that PC of yours, without standardization of api\'s for sound, graphics, controller, etc. We would probably only have about half those games today... Does anyone remember the old DOS days?

Boogieman
Three women were sitting around talking about their usbands\'performance as a lover.
The first woman says \"My Husband works as a marriage counselor. He always buys me flowers and candy before we make love. I like that.\"
The second woman says, \"My husband is a motorcycle mechanic. He likes to play rough and slaps me around sometimes. I kinda like that.\"
The third woman just shakes her head and says, \"My husband works for Microsoft. He just sits on the edge of the bed and tells me how great it\'s going to be when I get it.\"
