The Matrix: Path of Neo Interview
by Maarten Goldstein, Oct 20, 2005 9:10am PDTToday we have a The Matrix: Path of Neo interview for you, as David has the opportunity talk to game designer Benjamin Cholewinski about the followup to the not so memorable Enter The Matrix. The Matrix - Path of Neo will be released November 8 on PS2, Xbox and PC.
All facets have received upgrades delivering a true Matrix experience to fans and action gamers of varied skill levels. New first class mo-cap, multi-opponent / directional strikes, blocks and Link-Up Attacks, combo linkers, finishers, new melee and ranged weapons, and telekinesis are all new features created to support Neo and all his greatness. The driving and hovercraft portions found in ETM have been sent to the penalty box while super jumping, flight and a helicopter gatling-gun mini-game hit the ice. Also, the camera has detached itself from the ETM butt-cam and is much more dynamic. The right stick can be used to look around while the target lock button allows for new 360 targeting. During target lock the right stick is used to quickly cycle enemies and interactive / destructible objects.

I loved the Matrix series of movies, loved the comics, I even liked Enter the Matrix video game, but I'm getting no vibe from this game. I'm just not interested. Clunky models, replaying of the movies again.
I would rather see something off the Animatrix or the comics as gaming fodder.

I'm of the mindset like others here that the Matrix is old and has been done...but this did more for me than any screenshot could've, and it's refreshing to see a game designer very focused on the elements that will make this fun. The additions to the story line are very enticing.
I think it will still ultimately be a console game, but I'm looking forward to it anyway (/jaded pc gamer).
Best of luck guys, and thanks for the interview

Despite the fact that it seems most people around here disliked the sequels, I enjoyed them, and I'm really interested to see what the Wachowskis have changed up for the game.
