As promised, an updated Serious Sam 2 demo is now available on FileShack. It includes the Seriousopolis Uptown level from the first demo, as well as the new level called Greendale. The demo now also supports 16 player co-op play, up from the first demo's 4 player co-op support. Serious Sam 2 is now in stores.

  • Protip for dual core folk who have mouse skipping/cinematic audio/menu issues:

If you are running a dual core system you will probably get messed up audio in the cutscenes, and your mouse will intermittently get VERY sensitive for no reason. To fix this problem, start the game, then alt-tab out. Ctrl-alt-del to get to the task manager, then right click on the serious sam 2 process. Set affinity to only one core instead of both.

Go back to the game, everything will run perfectly now. The MS hotfix didn't take care of this issue for me, but setting the affinity to one core did. Hopefully a patch will be issued that will take care of this without having to do this process everytime I play the game.

  • Ignore everything negative you have read about this game, I got it Saturday and it has been a fucking blast to play.

Ping doesn't matter so much in this game, so I was playing 8 players on a Hong Kong server with a mix of english and non english speakers, I played for 3.5 hours before the server went down and the whole time we were commenting on all the cool shit.

This game is everything that made SS great turned up to 11, ignore the haters, it owns, most fun I have had on a new title this year.

The only problems with it are the lack of character models, which may just need to be unlocked, and the Super Shotgun seems to have its reload sped up and its damage turned down, much like going from the Doom 2 Super Shotgun to the Quake Super Shotgun.

Other than that I love it. Game was smooth as glass with a 200 ping.

    BUY IT! Only $30!

There is something very unique to Serious Sam games and SSII doesn't disappoint. Joining an in progress coop game this weekend with around 8 other players I needed to run a bit to join the fracass. As I approached I beheld a vision of pure beauty, 3 Groovy Gregory's assaulting 2 of those large white 3-clawed beasties (that look like a Quake I Shambler). The beasts are wading through trees and plants knocking Groovy dudes left and right, until finally a salvo of parrot bombs explodes them into a shower of blood and chunks. Watching from a distance you can appreciate the scale of these guys (and these aren't even that big compared to other nasties in the game). Good fun.

  • I'd suggest anyone who liked SS1 and 2E give this another shot. I bought the full game on faith from the previous two titles and I'm not dissapointed at all.

For those of you concerned that this game isn't like the last, fear not. This game is just like the 1st two, but with better graphics. Everytime you walk into a big open area or a log courtyard you instinctively reach over and hit the quicksave key cause you know you're about to have to fight about 200 monsters.

A lot of people cried about the flying enemies in the first demo, well if you're not man enough, don't step up, cause this game has a plethora of them. God damned witches. I'm playing it through on Serious difficulty by myself and holy crap is it hard in places.
