Blizzard tried somewhat, but i think the genre just isn't mature enought.
BTW, interesting that the picts are going to be in the end, i wonder if they'll introduce some NPC from the Mak Morn family line...

They definately have that comic/book feel to the Conan universe and not those awful(but good in a different way) movies.
