First Post!
by Maarten Goldstein, Oct 09, 2005 11:28am PDTI can't believe I still don't get bored by takedowns in Burnout. Just too much fun. Even hit a quad takedown earlier today, that felt pretty good. Unfortunately my Xbox isn't hooked up to the internet at the moment, would love to do some online racing. Serious Sam 2 this week. Like others I wasn't crazy about the demo level but the basic gameplay seemed fine so I look forward to all the co-op madness. Movie: The pleasure of the kill is in the chase.

Fifth Annual Camp Toccoa Reunion w/ Pictures
The Camp Toccoa Reunion was a big success and a ton of fun. I got to see a bunch of World War 2 gear and modern day stuff. The weather was beautiful (it had been raining the past couple of days so we were worried). The whole day was full of events and things to do and we hardly had time for a break to stop. Band of Brothers has really brought this town together and given them an identity. The men of the 506th were there. But the men of Easy company were not. With the huge popularity of Band of Brothers, the men of Easy company have a hard time getting any space in public. They have their own private reunions now just so they have a chance to talk to each other. Also the author of a book you will see later told me that Dick Winters has recently taken ill. From what he said it sounded like a pretty bad illness and I would write him if you get the chance.
There were about 10 or so World War 2 veterans there and a handful of Korean and Vietnam veterans.

Roughly a 50% falloff in box office receipts this weekend - it took in just $4.9 million.
LTD, it's pulled in $17.6 million.
So much for the trilogy. :-(

Battlefield 1942 SHACKBATTLE Announcement for Sunday, October 9th at 6:00 PM PST (9:00 PM EST)!
Since the patch for BF2 seems to make the game even more buggy than it was before I say we go back to the 1940's and BLOW SHIT UP!!
1942 was a golden age of first person shooter gameplay. The game is well balanced, not to many annoyances exist and it is just all around fun.
We'll be playing BF1942 v1.61 at bf1942.shackbattles.com:14567 - password is in my profile. We'll also be using Teamspeak. rEVERYONE should be on Teamspeak, at least to listen even if you don't have a mic. We'll be connecting to rydogg1's server: ts.shackbattles.com - no password required.
Last week we had a good but small game, and good fun was had all around. We've gotten a few BF1942 newbies involved. If you're new to the game and need training or help, I (and several others) should be able to spend time walking you through the different classes, weapons, tactics, etc. Just let me know!
We'll be playing Vanilla BF1942 1.61! But the map rotation will also include Shackmaps and the tournament map pack. You can get them at the links below.
All right, here's the batch of useful download links if you don't have them:

Annother utility for those of you that use speakers and a mic with teamspeak.

Teamspeak Overlay, puts the usernames of those who speak onto your screen. Has caused some stability issues for a few people in the past.
If you do not download these maps, you will not be able to play them.
Punkbuster will be disabled for the time being.
The earlier thread spawned some interesting BF2 mod talk...

Segway goes from $5000 self-balancing cart to... toys?
But Segway has now begun licensing parts of its technology assets to other companies, beginning with WowWee Robotics, a Hong Kong-based toy manufacturer. WowWee, home of the RoboSapien (batteries not included), has licensed Segway's Smart Motion software and designs.
RoboSapien is a programmable toy that boasts "a fluent international 'caveman' speech" - much like California's Governor, and former robot impersonator, Arnold Schwarzenegger (batteries not included either).

So I'm sitting downstairs a few days ago talking to my roommate and he's folding his laundry... then I see it. He's doing the crazy japanese folding technique!!
Now it's my turn to my laundry and I remember him folding shit all nutso. So I look up "japanese folding video" and I got it! My advice to all of you out there: use this for T-Shirts at the very least. It always comes out goddamn perfect for some reason. Video:

You'll thank me when you try it.

I was finding my hands to be getting somewhat sore after hours-long marathons of WoW, and rather than use the simple solution (Play less), I'm going to try this new keyboard.
And I got it on the cheap too; $60 sale at London Drugs. Good times, good times.

That said, if i can't figure out how to turn the heartbeat off soon, i'm gonna stop playing. Jesus lionhed, did you ever stop to think some people might be hungover while playing games???? I really need a constant thudding going through my inner membrane. Anyone know how to get rid of the heartbeat?

Is it just me or has anyone else lost (excuse the pun) interest in this show? It just seems to have gotten really stupid lately. It seems to have lost most of its magic (the exoticness) that made it interesting last season (trapped on a deserted island, blah blah blah etc)... It just seems to be getting too unreal now.

The game cannot end on a defensive foul!
Did Denver decline or something? FOX just kind of "ok that's it goodnight everybody!"
It was a very windy day, I pulled up next to a sport bike and went to have a drink. Sitting down at the table, i hear a loud crunch. My bike has fallen on the sport bike and destroyed its fairing, indicator and lever.
The damage to my dirt bike is a small scuff on the end of the handlebar.
Who is liable? noone were near the bikes
