I tried two scenarios ... one was using directx9 will all the shaders and subtle effects at 1024x768 with 2xAA. This resulted in framerates of 20-30fps.
Scenario 2 invovled forcing directx7 mode ... but at 1600x1200 with 4xAA. Gameplay was extremely fluid and framerate were in the range of 50-80fps.
I was wondering if anybody else played around with this, and if so, which scenario do you prefer? Although scenario 2 is missing the subtle shader effects like heat haze and whatnot, it runs SOOOOOO much smoother with no jaggies whatsoever at a much higher resolution. The amazing smoke effects were still present in directx 7 mode also!
So what exactly is it about the directx 9 mode that is choking the hell out of my system? The directx7 mode just flies, and the resulting visuals are still very good. Is directx9 doing HDR?
Opinions? Comments?

The multiplayer was tons of fun. I played a headquarter control mode as well as several rounds of capture the flag. It had a really good feel to it.

What I did notice and what impressed me was the amount of noise.
Alot more talking/yelling/firing/blasts... it definitely felt alot more like a battlefield.
(Not that I have ever been in a WW2 Battlefield, but its alot more realistic in my mind and more believable)
I pretty sure I'll be picking this one up when it comes out.
