BF2 has such a horrible piece of programming compared to this. However, characteristic of Sierra, the motions of the characters just dont look real. I mean the whole pistol whipping and butstroking is cheeeeeeeze! However, better to have mele than not.
Its fucking awesome how you can see shockwaves of particles after they hit a wall, or the explosions and factors that just arent in other games.
Well done. Im ganna buy it.

Its not that its fast paced, its that it takes under a second to kill someone with just about any weapon. I don't know why the damage for the weapons is so fucking jacked, but its almost impossible to respond to an attacker when you're dead after they fire just a few shots.
Runs fine though.

- Drop down console
- further adjust mouse settings (config.cfg?? can't find anything that looks like a match). My GUI sens is all the way down and it's still a little too tweaky for me
Thanks =)

+Weapons do hardcore damage
+Graphics are incredible and I even have them scaled way down since my 9800 Pro and Athlon XP can't handle the shadowing at all even in 1024x.
+Variety of weapons is good
+Slow-motion as a pick-up that only one team member can have at a time is creative while keeping the game from being overloaded with slo-mo moments.
+CTF is fun!
+Feels like a (good) combination of SoF2/HL2/Doom3 in play style. I've never played FarCry so I dunno if that's similar as well.
+Has leaning left and right player ability.
+The Jump airtime and height is tight enough to prevent bunnyhopping from removing fun from the game.
+People running around like it's Q3A deathmatch get owned by more calm players. :]
-Takes a while to get used to the team radar overlaying the game screen.
-Brings my system to a crawl.
-Better weapons sounds would be nice.
-A second, more open map would be nice to see how it plays in a different environment than a tight office/factory-like corridored map.
Questions:
Are there elevators and such in this game?
How about levers and things that can be activated? Those can help make a multiplayer map more interesting... interacting with the level in some significant way.

bf2 is scaled down in small detail like walls and certain items just dont have that much detail, it's all about all over as in the whole map since you can drive anywhere etc, the size of maps vs fear maps makes up for the detail in my opinion.
the mp demo is by far one of the best games i've played. I've been smiling all day thanks to fear and I can't wait till it comes out.
amd 2400+ with 512mb ram and 6600 gt... runs really really good at medium 800x600 - no complains. Should upgrade soon anyway since I'm a quaker and quake 4 is coming out very soon.
DM - I forgot how much fun deathmatch was.
Capture the flag - I hope the maps are better.
Overall - the most impressive thing to me was the fact that I can slide through the floor and kill ppl or jump on 'em and kick 'em or do a round house etc... that is something that no other game has ever done. except for the melee attack but they went all out on that aspect.

I was in one of the earlier MP demo betas, but it was very hard to get a feel for how well it would really work since DM and team DM were the only real options, if I remember... also, I'm sure the code wasn't as well-optimized then.
anyways, CTF in this game is the biz. the basic mechanics are straightforward, but the execution is great. you're never at a loss for where to go (they have flag markers). the darkness adds to the atmosphere even in MP: you'll have those moments where you enter a dark area and you'll really have to be on your guard. you can use your flashlight, but of course that gives you away.
they also effectively divide players up into classes by the kind of weapon you pick for your next spawn. if you want to be a sniper, pick the ASP rifle. if you're offense, pick the assault rifle or the HV (the nailgun, essentially). but no weapon is completely useless in a situation it wasn't meant for. the ASP operates in a 3-shot burst, for example, so you can still rip someone up at close range if you're good enough.
lastly, it seems like the game runs quite smoothly online versus single-player (probably the lack of AI). a P4 3.2 with an X800 Pro autodetected at "high" all around, and it never chugged noticeably. I'd still love to play the game with a 7800 GTX though.
in short: A++ would cap the flag again
PS: having your first round of CTF go down to sudden death with close calls and a victory by your team... that's nice :)

Pros
- Fast paced gameplay
- Nice graphics
- Solid feeling of walking and being in the game
- Neat effects like warping with explosions, wall deformation with bullets, and slowmo when you die
Cons
- Extremely inaccurate guns. It's almost impossible to hit anything more than an imagined 20 feet away without stopping or crouching. Unfortunately, stopping and crouching are a death sentence, because...
- Guns have extreme firepower. You die very quickly, often before you even realize where you're being attacked from. This combined with the last makes for very random gameplay where sometimes you kill your target quickly and other times do no damage.
- Sound is awful. The gun effects sound as though they are behind a brick wall. This would be great except they all sound that way, including the gun you're holding, which really isn't any louder or crisper than any of the other guns you can hear firing around you. Actually I think your gun is quieter than everyone elses which boggles my mind. I was puzzled by the sound for at least 5 minutes before I just decided it was garbage.
Overall I'm not a huge fan so far, but I'm going to go back in and tweak all of the little settings to make it as best I can.
If anyone knows what the deal is with the sound let me know.

I didnt care for the single player demo, but I really like this one. It runs great and the pace is just right.
So far, so good!
