Serious Sam 2 GONE GOLD

2K Games sends along a press release announcing that Serious Sam 2 has gone gold, and will be in North American retail stores October 11. The game supports 16 player co-op on the PC and 4 player co-op on Xbox. Here are five new screenshots from the game. If you missed the recently released demo, you can find that here.

Meanwhile, Seriously! has a new Q&A with art director Admir Elezovic of Croteam.

Anyone else have sound problems on this? My sound would go real low and all the voices would be completely gone after the first minute or so. At first I thought it was when I went into the fountain with the armor on in it but then I played it again and didn't go into the water and it did the same thing for the rest of the demo. The only way to fix the sound was to quit all the way out and go back in. It would then mess up again within like 30 seconds. I've never had any problems like that on any other games before.

I only recently played the demo and was somewhat upset over the invisiwall stuff. In these modern times, this is a feature that should not exist. Put a wall into the level design, do not limit me by making up some invisible forcefield. Its seems that it may have been a lazy spot by the mappers... just not sure. The action I thought was fine, and the game ran acceptably for me so I can't complain about the feature set or the game play itsself. The menuing interface still needs work and I hope they will patch it on the PC when they get some time.

I never thought there'd come a time where I'd hold out on buying a serious sam game. That demo just was really bad. I just hope the reviews and shackers love it. I really hope the demo was in no way what the game will be like.

Does anyone know if the Xbox version does splitscreen coop or just the lame Xbox Live coop like some games?

Hopefully the former.. I'm looking forward to bumming out with some mates and shooting a lots of ridiculous looking monsters.

Considering the ways the demo was lacking, a gold master already means those same gripes will be prevalent in the final product.

(Invisiwalls, icky menu navigation, etc.)

Oh well. Maybe FEAR will kick some butt next month. :)
