  • This demo was really great, i really think it was a good decision to keep the initial gameplay from the first game intact.. They decided to take the 'If it aint broke, dont fix it' turn.. And i really think its worked well, smoke effects are just amazing, explosions are great, A.I is really really good (i played on average and got killed 2 or 3 times, of course i was taking the Rambo approach). Yeah its scripted, but its scripted really well. Unlike say Special OPS (xbox/pc game released last year, terribly scripted). And i will most definatly be buying this for the 360 as i can't have direct x 9 enabled :-(

  • I absolutely love the feel of this demo! And this was coming off of me playing several hours of DOD:S, which kind of pales in comparison in some ways.

When I first started it up, I made the mistake of trying to run it outside of the DX7 mode and was treated by about 10-15 fps. Changing it to DX7 didn't seem to alter the visuals much at all, and I was then cruising along at around 50-60 fps at 1280x960 on my geforce fx 5900. The contrast in speed was amazing, it felt like I was playing on completely different machine.

Nothing beats this for atmosphere. I just wish that BF1942 felt like this. COD2 would be incredible in multiplayer with massive maps like BF with tanks, flyable planes, boats, jeeps. etc.

Why don't they do it? The opening sequence of the demo proves that this engine can render large areas with smooth framerates.

Seeing how the game can run like liquid with so much going on at one time, it seems perfectly feasible for them to do an expansion to this game with a more robust multiplayer than UO.

Here's to hoping we'll see some really large multiplayer maps done with this engine.
