Proving the pay-for-play monthly format isn't the only way to do MMORPGS. Woop!

True, but look at WoW's sales compared to this.

WoW has also been out longer and is already out in more countries. Plus that doesn't take away from Guild Wars' success. There are very few MMORPGs with a bigger playerbase than GW.

      4mil vs 1mil

proving that pay per month still wins

we do not have profit numbers, only purchases and/or subscriptions. It could still be that GW is making more profit for the company.

I am a fan of both, I have avoided WofW due to the monthly fee, but my point is that you should not confuse sales with profit.

If anything it just proves that WoW "wins" over Guild Wars, and it doesn't even prove that. Guild Wars still has far more subscribers than the vast number of MMOs.

(Btw, this doesn't indicate any preference on my part. I've never played Guild Wars and I think WoW is awesome, so yeah)

If GW had been the same type of MMO as WoW or SWG or EQ then they would have been forced to charge monthly fees too, hence the comparison doesn't really work.
