First, it's worth downloading for the intro movie alone, if you like watching badass moves and LOTS of stuff blowing up! And these are NICE explosions!!!
The game itself has an "arcadey" feel, like it was probably a console port, but that's fine, so does Dead Man's Hand and I liked that a lot too. You'll get "8X POINT-BLANK KILL EXTRA HEALTH INSANE COMBO!!!" messages after a series of kills, all cartoon like, and there are floating power-ups to pick up, but beyond all that, this is PC gaming goodness, folks!
The comparisons to GTA3 and Max Payne are apt, and that's fine, as things are more intuitive that way -- entering + driving vehicles (tractors LOL) a la GTA3 and a "shoot dodge" move that is blatantly identical to Max Payne 1. There are also a number of "Insane combo" moves (or something like that) where you get to go nuts in a variety of energetic ways.
The graphics may not be on par with Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 or Painkiller, but! The animations are superb, there's LOTS of bright red blood when you shoot the bad guys, and when shit blows up, SHIT BLOWS UP!!!! BOOOOOOMMM!!!!
I shot at some barrels next to a van and they blew up and the van flew WAY up in the air and got caught in some telephone wires and came down and crashed on its nose :D
I saw SCI in the credits, and aren't they the people who published the Carmageddon series?
There are ALWAYS people to shoot or things to blow up, and the music is great, and this whole thing is VERY EXCITING! I am definitely going to buy a copy when it is released for the PC!!!!!
XOXOX,
Morgan "Fairchild" Freeman

+Desperado: The Game
+Run and gun
+Unique combo system where you can chain kills and look like a badass.
+Somewhat funny
Cons :(
-Music is annoying and repetitive.
-Sounds are weak.
-Run and gun
-Mission plays like the crappy foot-missions in Grand Theft Auto 3
-Cutscenes look like something out of a HalfLife 1 machinima.
Overall score for demo: 603% out of 772%
May be worth renting.....

The graphics are good enough (I'm usually a graphics whore too) and the game is just fun. I loved Max Payne and MP 2 so I'm all over this as it plays very similarly. I'll pick this one up for sure. Oh and it's kinda funny too. bonus

Imagine Max Payne married Serious Sam and they gave birth to Antonio Banderas on a skateboard.
100% awesome is what I'm getting at.

OK, so I actually took the plunge, downloaded it, and played through this thing to give you uninformed mofos the lowdown. And I'm pleased to report that this is worth downloading!
Gameplay
The actual character movement, shooting, and driving (yes, driving!) feels almost exactly like the latest GTA games. You can run around with all kinds of big guns and blow away banditos who explode in over-the-top showers of cartoonish blood and gibs. The vehicle physics are pretty lame, but getting to run over some dudes with a pickup truck, van, and tractor is a nice touch. Also, the combat is heavily based around a Max Payne-esque slow-mo feature. It's basically an exact rip-off of the Max Payne shoot-dodge in slo mo effect, but it's done nicely. You can pretty much always use it since the "energy" it requires recharges very quickly. The only really "new" thing about the combat is a neat little combo system that has been implemented. If you get a lot of kills in a row, or get some "stylish" kills, you are rewarded with extra health and extra special moves. One of the special moves, for example, causes your character to spin around like a tornado firing dual Uzi's. Ridiculous, but fun!
Graphics
Almost identical to GTA3 on the PC. Low poly, low-res textures, but it gets the job done.
Sound
The music is pretty annoying but fits with the Mexican theme. The voice acting is also hilariously bad. The main character spits out tons of one-liners, but they are all awful. The kind of awful that makes you laugh!
Overall
This is a mix of Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto, and Duke Nukem, with a B-movie theme kind of like Robert Rodriguez's Desperado series. And what can I say? It's not ground-breaking, but I was quite entertained. And that's more than I can say about a lot of demos these days.
The Max Payne style moves actually work well. The intro had me lollering. This might be a decent rental for the Xbox. Expected release date?
Oh, and there isn't much content, maybe 5-10 minutes.

Think Desperado meets Max Payne, it isn't really GTA, though you can certainly hop in (and jump out of!) any vehicle you want
