by Maarten Goldstein, Sep 08, 2005 7:17am PDTNo problems for me running the Age of Empires 3 demo, and I'm really digging the game. I've always been a fan of the Age of .. series, so even though the basic gameplay is mostly the same it's very enjoyable. Will be picking this up for sure. I hadn't really thought about the next few months a whole lot until recently but I see myself picking up quite a few games..AoE3, Call of Duty 2, Serious Sam 2, NBA Live 06, Stubbs the Zombie, Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, F.E.A.R and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others...yikes! Plus of course there's the 360..with the rumors about PGR3 not being a launch title though, I'm not sure what I would be buying with it. Nothing else really interesting me right now. Also on FileShack
- Total Club Manager 2006 Demo - 660mb worth of football managing.
- Universal Combat 2.00.30 patch, Universal Combat: A World Apart 1.00.04 patch

- GTA: Long Night and patch - zombie mod for GTA: Vice City.

Microsoft AntiSpyware users
Do those of you that have AntiSpyware installed still use apps like SpyBot Search&Destroy or Adaware? I'll be cleaning adware off of an associate's home network that I'm certain will be flooded. I'd like to minimze the time spent there, running duplicating searches, but I'd rather get everything this time and not have to go back for a few months.

If anyone would like to sell me a copy of any of the quakes, I would gladly take the offer. I cant find any copies of any of the games in any Game store around here.

"In addition to making you the proud owner of a bouncing baby murloc, the BlizzCon card you receive will also contain an access code for an upcoming Blizzard beta test. Once you receive the card, you'll be able to visit a Blizzard Web site, enter the code, and sign up to be contacted when the upcoming beta test is ready for you to join. While beta tests give us a chance to fine-tune our work, they also provide the unique opportunity of allowing participants to try out and give feedback on a Blizzard title before it becomes available to the general public. Since the day is almost upon me, I thought I would do something a little different. I thought I would share with you all, what my ideas at the ages of 5-15, where I thought I would be at this age now.
Back then I thought 21 was old, it's amazing how quickly time flies, but also how much really does happen in this amount of time. These are all factual believe it or not, I had quite the imagination.
So, I present to you...

Some of you might remember this post from about 6 months ago : http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=9764889 . My brother was (sorta still is, I guess) in the middle of a pretty nasty divorce and custody case. His last chance to get custody of their daughter was by having a psych eval done on both families (him + his new wife and his ex-wife + her new husband) so that the court can make an even better decision as to who gets custody.
The problem was that since he was asking for the evaluation to be done he had to cover the costs - all $6500 of it. I posted here seeing if anyone was willing to throw a few bucks his way and the response was HUGE. He ended up getting around $1500-2000 from dozens and dozens of Shackers. I was simply blown away. I was expecting maybe a few people to PayPal him like $10. He called me on more than one occasion totally amazed that completely random people were helping him out.
And help him out you did - combined with friends and family the Shack was able to help my brother get the $6500 for the psychological evaluation. I was just told by my dad the court's decision (from a 27-page evaluation/recommendation):
The evaluator awarded custody of Anna to my brother and his wife!/]
The ex-wife gets her for about 5 days a month total. Every other week my brother gets her from 5PM Sunday through 5PM Friday. On the first "odd" week he gets her from 5PM Sunday through 5PM Saturday and the fourth week they get her for the entire weekend.
Thanks to you guys my niece now has a hope and future. You honestly have no idea how much this means to my entire family. This has been a constant struggle for the last 2+ years. Whenever I meet any of you that donated or even sent a good luck message - I owe you all a drink. You're all my personal hero :)
Once again, THANKS GUYS. You have helped my brother win the good fight. Here's some pics of her, so you guys can see what you helped with :)

I'm looking for a server/workstation/PC to do some VMWare-based test networks. Basically, I need a beefy CPU, 1GB+ RAM, and some nice fast drives. I'll be running Windows Server 2003, and probably 2 Windows XP clients simultaneously. Video card, sound, and network (as long as theres at least 1 Gigabit NIC) are trivial.
My max budget is about $850 after shipping and tax (Ohio). My target is more about $600. I don't care if it's Intel or AMD, as long as it can run Windows and VMWare as fast as <$850 can get me.
I can get the following for $790+tax+shipping (~$840):
Pentium 4 2.8Ghz - 800fsb
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (512MB x 2)
160 GB SATA
48x CD-ROM
3 year warranty
Can anyone suggest something faster for the same or less? Or should I just buy this?
just a question about what you eat, because i'm curious:
how influenced by portugal is your cuisine? is linguisa popular there?

who would've thought, I just might get back to playing my currently-despised warlock...
http://forums-de.wow-europe.com/thread.aspx?ForumName=wow-warlock-de&ThreadID=41501
since the four introductory lines are in german, I'll explain a bit: this is the list of suggestions concerning warlocks made by the community that will be sent to the dev team for consideration. if only half of those will see the light of the day I'll... well, be happy.
some of my favs:
# Some sort of non-fear crowd control, e.g. a stun, or Fear causing the target to freeze in place instead of running to fetch adds
# Some kind of teleport spell, like Blink or a spell to have the Warlock and his pet switching places
# Banish working on any target type, including players
# End-game pets are not considered strong or versatile enough to warrant the risk involved in controlling them. Doomguard is not considered powerful enough as a final pet, especially considering the cost of summoning it.
* Add more abilities to the end-game pets, to make them more viable. This could maybe be done through existing talents like Demonic Sacrifice and Master Demonologist.
* Let the first enslave automatically work for 15 minutes minimum
# Pets do not grow stronger above level 60. Where others improve their gear, demons stay the same. Something that adds to the pet’s abilities or strength after level 60 would be welcomed.
# Pets continue to disappear when traveling, both by falling behind and by being dismissed when the Warlock uses the taxi service. The latter also affects mounts.
* Make it possible to un-summon the pet and mount to either get it back after the flight or get the shard back
# DoTs often lack punch in mass PvP where enemies go down in mere seconds
# In the lack of escape abilities, having an instant cast damage spell for use when enemies come up close would be appreciated
# Shadow area-effect spell, as they only have Fire area-effect now.
Possession
* Allow the Warlock to either assume demon form or have a demon possess him. This turns him into a combat machine and renders him unable to use other abilities. In the case of possession he might actually lose control of his character while it fights for him. Possibly a short duration panic-button for use when the Warlock has no other options left.

Is there a reason why having includes inside includes (I have on instance where I nest a total of 3 or 4 includes) would be bad? I haven't read anything on that, but it seems like I could be a bad idea...?
I'm all about being super-efficient in design, which is why I'm doing it this way.

i'm definately arranging it again because the lols were worth every ounce of effort i put into the project. i know things could have gone smoother.
off the top of my head, here are a few things i'm going to flesh out better this year:
- notification. i had an email script working when i launched the site last year, but it seemed to have broken pretty early into it, so a lot of people were simply uninformed as to the process despite the ja.zz informatives. this year i hope to figure out how to send a shackmessage from an external form.
- integrated image gallery. just a feature for people to upload a photo or two of their loot. the gallery i set up last year didn't work so well because some retards thought it would be rad to delete all of the pictures.
- better site design. i might request a template form one of you web design hobbyists because i suck at that stuff really bad.
anyhoo... go ahead and criticize the way it worked out last year. i'm starting on the site early this year so it will go smoother than last year.

The food is just better. Overall the total time it takes to cook is the same (15-20 minutes for the coals to ash over, 20 minutes or so for the food to cook thoroughly) but the results are no contest.

Hey guys,
A while back I posted a thread about starting your own PC Repair business. It has been going well for me, but I've run into a problem. Supposedly (and I still have trouble believing it) it's illegal to put anything ON or AROUND a mailbox (I know it's illegal to put anything in one). I've always been told the Postal System owns the INSIDE of your mailbox, but the mailman that stopped be claims they own the entire thing. He was cool about it though. I got a shackmessage today from another shacker who ran into the same problem (although he had done this before my post was even made), except he recieved a letter from the Postmaster telling him what he did was wrong, and telling him what the fines would be if he were to do it again (they let him off since they figured he didn't know any better), totalling $35,000.
Now, since I've been warned verbally, I'd rather not test my luck. I was averaging 1 customer for every 100 flyers. A lot of my customers though told me to look into Direct Mail. Do any of you have any experience with this? I've seen sites on the net that will print the direct mail, and services that will give you a consumer list, and others that will mail them for you; I'm trying to find one that does ALL THREE. I already have the design, so all I'd need is printing, and mailing them to a list THEY aquire. Thanks for any info ahead of time!
