It bugs me when game mechanisms are presented as "cards" and "decks". Cards are a physical means of displaying and distributing information. Computer games don't need cards... unless its a computer simulation of a cardgame. :)
The cynical side of me hints that the card terminology is used to attract the CCG-obssessed. I don't think that's the whole story, or even a dominant part... I imagine that mainly it's just the developers being lazy in finding a metaphor for encapsulating concepts/data. But lazy is bad too! It's not a big deal but, y'know, if your "cards" in a computer game are bonusses, abilities, units, or whatever. then why not call them bonusses, abilities, units, or whatever rather than "cards"? Doesn't the card thing just add one more strike against immersion?
