Possible dates for the OFP Shackbattle are being put forward right now, and they are:
September 3rd-4th]*
This gives everyone two weeks to get the game, mods, and ensure everything's set up properly. It also allows us time to drum up more interest. Smaller games will likely be held prior to that, but the main ones will be on the 3rd and 4th.
Speak up if you have any issues with those dates.
At this point we need some SQUAD LEADERS to step up and sound off. Syixxs has already agreed to be one (and will likely end up being the platoon commander as well, since he's awesome as a leader), we'll need 3-4 more designated ones (with that number including extras in case others don't make it). Squad Leaders will be responsible for taking the leadership role of a given element and commanding it on the field of battle. Some of the missions we're slated to play are going to require awesome SL's, so if you're going to volunteer, you'd better be prepared to be a chatty bitch on Teamspeak.
We also need some designated HELO PILOTS. Many of the missions won't have helos, but there are a few in which a good helo pilot or two is a huge boon to the team. If you feel confident flying a CH-47 or whatnot around with a full load of Shackers in the back, speak up. We'll need at least two designated helo pilots, and I'll be happy to fill in as a third in any mission that might require it.
Also, the mods we'll be using are as follows. Installation instructions, download links, etc will be provided in the near future (still working on it). Mod installation was going to be done via OFPwatch, but in consideration of mojoald's bandwidth (ofpwatch would've caused massive bandwidth rape) we're instead going to do it the old-fashioned way, with a bit of a twist. More on that later.

- Kegety's Winter stuff
- Ballistic Addon Studio's stuff, including Tonal/OpFor, Delta/Rangers
- Suchey & Earl's USMC Assault Pack
For those of you that've never joined one in the past, the only real requirements for participating in such a Shackbattle would be:
a) You own OFP + Resistance, or just OFP GotY Edition.
b) You don't mind downloading a few mods (I've tried my best to make this as easy as possible for new players, details on that can be found in reply)
c) You're willing to at least listen in on TS, if not outright speak on it

Let’s just say that some friends and I were celebrating and we were a gentlemen’s club. We drove 45 minutes to get to this place and after indulging in festivities one of my friends and I noticed a couple ladies that we would like ‘tag team dance†for us. We wait for them to come over and low and behold they were sisters. After some exchange of pleasantries I come to find out that I know both of them in a round about way. I am good friends with their cousins that live in my town. I went to school and worked on their pit crew with them. So as the night moved on she kept coming back and we talked about a lot of things. Now I know she is a ‘dancer’ and that is her job but this was not my first time to such a place and never had this happen before. She gave me number and told me to call her sometime…. Now again I know what she does and the more I think about the less I care…. She is a student at a local college and she is going to graduate next June in photography, which happens to be a field that has always been a hobby of mine. Couple that with the fact that she does live close to me and I know like ½ o her family. I don’t know how to proceed. There is an old saying… you can’t change whore into a housewife …. But her and I kinda hit off…. What do ya’ll think I should do?

It has looked like that ever since they moved in there in October 2003, she's 29, her boyfriend is 33, they've both got wellpaid fulltime jobs, they both guzzle down liters of energy drinks, coffee and soda every day, they're both at normal mental health.. allegedly.
Only had time for two shots before my Sunday night lunch wanted to see daylight. I went in there because I asked her to retrieve my Solar Jetman cartridge a month ago. A month ago.

Saw my nice single unpartitioned space of ~37 gig which I proceded to do a full format on (not quick) followed by a standard install. Now windows is installed and things seemed fine and dandy, at first. Whenever it boots it brings up the screen asking which OS to boot. For example if you had Win XP and Win 2000 you get to pick. Well in my case it says "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" twice. Choose the first one and all is as it should be. Choose the second, which shouldn't be there, and it says the file path is corrupt yadda yadda yadda.
So, finally to the question, how do I get rid of that second option? I've heard in the past that you can edit the options manually so, at least in theory, could I simply delete the second option?

Should I complain to our desktop group at work? They've supplied me with a fairly sweet Dell Optiplex GX280 3.6GHz P4 machine... but its driving me absolutely batty. The CPU fan is constantly whirring up and down like crazy. If my machine is completely idle not doing anything the fan noise is perfectly acceptable, but as soon as anything starts hitting the CPU (even something as simple as dragging in a .PDF) the fan goes nutzo. Right now its so loud I can't hear a person about 10' away who is talking normally. Another coworker has the exact same PC (albiet with a Quadro FX instead of an X300) and its never loud. Ever.
I went poking around in the BIOS and couldn't find anything there that would have caused it. The air being blown out the back during these "high" CPU usages isn't warm at all, its actually quite nice if you stick your hand back there.

- oh, thank you to the enemy team who, this morning, camped at our last remaining base with APCs and tanks, gunning us down like chickens. I've never had so much fun. Spawn. Die. Wait. Spawn. Die. Wait. Spawn. Die. Wait. Spawn. Die. Wait. Spawn. Die. Wait.
- also, major props to the unsquadded members of my team on the next map who hid once all our flags had been taken and so left all the dead team members to stare at the kit selection screen as the score slowly trickled down.
- doubleplus major props to BF2 for not letting me spectate whilst waiting for aformentioned non-squaddies to die, instead popping up that irritating kit selection screen every 5 seconds that is useless to me.
- thanks to the squaddie who this morning tk'ed me for not reviving him the previous round. The enemy APC on top of you had nothing to do with my decision.
- bravo to the guy that knifed me. you were a terrific squad leader whilst i served under you.
- i again wish to extend my gratitude to the base campers. they deserve significant recognition for what was a terrific and coordinated effort. Well done, Corporals.

I'm also always curious how your guy manages to stay alive for a month after destroying the strategic Earth satellite, and where he gets the space pods for his ship for the final level. Is the assumption that he kind of sought refuge on Earth for a little bit or something? I suppose he could have stolen the engines from some Eos' that he shot down...
Oh well, good game. Think I'll go play it and get furious right now.

Shackhelp!
I'm compiling a list of big names in managed hosting. So far I have Rackspace, Verio, and Fusepoint (I'm also familiar with The Planet but they are just a colo, best I can tell). Googling brings up a few more but I don't recognize any of the companies.
So, does anyone have any solid suggestions or recommendations for good managed hosting companies?

The power connector on a client's laptop is touchy. He has to wiggle it alot to get it to work right. Can I buy that part at an electronics store and solder it on? It's an hp ze1210 laptop.
