I'm driving down the middle lane of a 3 lane road. To my right I see a dude (maybe 20yrs old) start to run across the street - like in full oncoming traffic. Henceforth I will call him "Idiot".

The dude in the right lane hits the brakes, as do I. Idiot makes it to the stripes between the right lane and my lane and I realize I'm not going to stop in time. Fortunately Idiot stops on the line and I cruise past.
Now, here's the weird part. As I drove by, that fucker (Idiot) tossed something in my rear window. I repeat - he threw something into my car. I was like "sonova bi...".
I drive a few more feet before turning back to see my present. What is it? An open, mostly-eaten package of Sara Lee Honey Ham.

see, maya keeps notebooks. what kind of notebooks, you ask? the insane kind, i answer. she posted a few scans of her notebooks in the past, and they are at once incredibly beautiful, and incredibly crazy. now, it seems, you can view some of these scans online.

from what i remember, she is compelled to document lists of things. she also likes to doodle. these notebooks are the result of those compulsions. the notebooks themselves are small, standard rule notebooks, which means her handwriting is very very tiny. i think she said she can fit four lines of text on a single standard-ruled line.

You can tell they're not programmers so what they want is sometimes outside the scope of the language they're requesting. I would like to just ask simple questions before i make a bid/commitment to the project without knowning all the details. Can i message the seller some questions just to make sure the job is in my realm. Or when you make a bid you can comment, "only accept this bid if the server runs linux" for example.
Another problem i see is, say this is a php script they want, do i install it? Jobs that i've done in the past i'm given ftp and ssh access and i can basically tune things the way i want and the script can run without the guy doing anything, it just works and he uses it.

So I hired an engineer to look at the foundation of the house I am buying and he found some pretty significant issues with it and suggested that a water leak under the foundation was probably the cause.
So I hired a plummer to do a static leak test on the plumming system. It turns out there are a couple leaks under the house in various spots. The quote I got from them to fix the leaks is $13,000~. They have to re-route 2 pipes to the exterior and around the house to the city tap, and then tunnel under the foundation and cap the old pipes.
The Sellers have agreed to reduce the price of the house by the amount of the quote, so instead of $196k, I would be paying $183k. This of course means I will have to front the cash myself to actually fix the leak.
Today is my final day to decide if i want the house or not. It's beautiful, and I really want it, but I just can't decide If i want to go through the hassle it would take to fix everything.
Has anyone had a similar situation before?

Say I wanted to get a loan for $5,000 at some bank (or is a credit union better?), how long would it take to become approved and the money manifest itself in my bank account? Does it vary by person? i could acquire a free ibook from my sister soon, and i was wondering a few things.
its the 366 power pc version, with 192 ram, and a usb port and a CDrom drive.

I'm finding I like how easy it is to get quick understandings of related topics through all of the key phrase/word linking while you read. Multi-tab browsing beats the hell out of reference books.
Yesterday I had a fruitful session with caseless ammunition, floating breeches, and eventually, depleted Uranium (DU) used in ammunition. Apparently a rod of DU self-sharpens when it get smashed into stuff instead of mushrooming. Holy crap? Need to find article on exactly why...
Today, I idly looked up laws of thermodynamics... which of course, led to other references. I didn't even know what a photon was before now, I'm almost ashamed and all what with this education I paid for. Most of these articles have satisfying summaries/overviews that let you grasp stuff on a general level, its really nice.
I could not bring myself to read about this stuff while in college, too much other crap to worry about, but now...? I can't possibly miss "school," right? Oh my, well, going to start reading about general relativity. Down the rabbit hole. @_@

I don't remember quite how far it went, but as I recall in one go I poked holes in her sonic cup, taped the handle to her chair up, switched left/right mouse buttons, and changed keyboard from qwerty to dvorak. My favorite part was a small gift box filled with thousands of hole punches that had no bottom. I carefully placed it on her desk, right beside a fan, so that the next morning she lifted it expecting a gift and instead got a faceful of paper dots. That one worked really well.
I expect a retaliation within the next week so I'm hoping for a quick strike back. Besides, I can't find a cheap place to order that stuff. =[
