Serious Sam 2 Multiplayer Shots

2K Games today confirmed that Serious Sam 2 will come with co-op multiplayer, mentioning that on the PC 16 players can play through the game via LAN or online, while the Xbox version allows 4 people to play co-op using Xbox Live or system link. Check out some new screenshots here.

Serious Sam II features more than 40 levels spread across seven different worlds, each with entirely different environments. Gamers will wield nearly 20 different weapons and ride in 15 different vehicles battling against hundreds of enemies, some of which are minute, while others dwarf the player entirely. All of the same gameplay content is available in the multiplayer portion of the game, with minor additions to the maps to make the game more enjoyable for multiple players.

So this is one of the few games to ever announce offering co-op multiplayer which many people love to see a game offer. Nowhere do I see it say that is the ONLY multiplayer mode offered, yet somehow people manage to miss the obvious reason for the announcement of co-op mp (that it's rare for a game to have it and thus they will attract attention from those of us who enjoy that type of play) and somehow illogically conclude it's the ONLY multiplayer the game offers.

If the first one had it, this one will too unless they specifically say "No deathmatch" somewhere. Am I missing a sentence in their announcement or something?

and another thing . Im all for crazy monsters and weird enemies but i still like a theme running accros my levels . its the weird shots where you have what look like two space marine guys in a space age looking city just stood next to a giant man scorpian. I did however still love the first game but then most of the enemies fitted the levels

Do you guys think the price increase from the previous version is justified now? Yes the game is longer, but is that enough now that its known there is just only one multiplayer feature? I'm really not sure how I feel about it. Right now, I'm just really, really disappointed with the news.

The lack of deathmatch or any other multiplayer modes is very disappointing. I know most people don't care about DM but there was a die-hard community built around Sam SE deathmatch and this announcement is a pretty hard kick in the jimmy john for us.

Sixteen players playing through the same game co-operatively. Wow. I can't imagine exactly how that will work (it's got to be a rail shooter of extreme proportions, I would figure), but it sounds impressive.

so the co-op , the probelem i had (i still loved it tho) last time was the rules for co-op . if i remember correctly you just picked how many lives each player got then when they ran out that was it.
What i want is a sytem where say you all get a life and a pool of lives to take from and the more bad guys you kill, say 5000 points worth you get another life added to your pool. It always seems to end with everyone dieing at the same time rather than a kind of all the dead players rooting for the live player to earn enough points so they could come back in.
Maybe it did have this and im just a crack head

Man, they need to get some shadows on their characters and enable AA for their shots.

I mean, I loved SS and SS:SE and am eagerly looking forward to playing SS2 - but these shots just aren't very impressive. I know it'll be fun, but the first two games were pretty for the time, I want this game to be pretty too :(
