I do believe it's Friday. Also on FileShack

  • small quick story.

I was walking out of my friends house and saw his brothers white van parked and started joking to myself about how the miata I drove there was stolen and what not, the whole time knowing it was small enough to hide behind this immense thing easily. Naturally I skip around the side of the van, keys dancing in my hand, and find no car. In good humor I check under the van and circle it again, after all it's a miata.

One of those disbelief moments hit me, the kind that makes you want to retrace your steps a bit.

A few seconds of disbelief and inaction soon turned into a quick run down the short driveway to see if I can catch the bastards who stole it driving off. After all I'm motivated* and I know I'll be able to run and catch up to them, after all it's a miata.

I check to my right, check to my left and through that wonderful thing called peripherial vision see the familiar red reflection of the circular breaklights in front of me. Ah ha, the bastards decided to steal what they could and park it across the street. I pride myself on not losing control and remembering to only leave my work clothes and 4 pair of shoes in the car--nothing valuable.

I unlock the car and all is well. The parking break is on (albeit halfway). Nothing has been taken and the idiots didn't hit the truck hidden by the shadow of a large tree. Wait a second! Apparently the parking break is weak and gravity rolled the car down the driveway (fairly steep, about 20 or 25 degrees if I had to guess), across the luckily uncrowded residential road and had sufficient force to park itself in the opposite driveway, missing a mailbox and a truck by a few feet. It is then that the parking break apparently decided to work and that I promised myself to always shift it into gear when I park as well (as a backup, or so I'm told).

I'm glad the steering wheel was turned just perfectly enough to make such a thing possible without damage or rolling further down the street. It also would have sucked had another car hit it, as it's a black car and that part of the street is not well lit.

    c'est tout, bon soir.

*was just talking with a friend who always says "if I were really motivated, I could (insert activity here)".

  • Anyone use Winfast Entertainment Center?

for whatever reason it's no longer properly deinterlacing the video for me, resulting in shitty, jittery video that's pretty damn unuseable. Tried uninstalling the software, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, and it didn't fix it. Tried uninstalling the drivers. Didn't fix it. Tried using the WDMBT848 drivers and it didn't fix it.

It worked fine for months but now suddenly it's telling me to screw myself :(

Has anyone else had a similar problem and have a solution? I'd like to be able to record videos again like..right now :(

DScaler still works fine, of course. Too bad it's not useable for a video capture tool (not like I have a CPU powerful enough for it to be one anyway :( )
