"Fixes the server browser, among a few other tiny things." (hint: sarcasm on that last bit)
For starters, I imagine there will also be some netcode and stability improvements as well (especially for the linux dedicated server), as those have already been hinted at.

What were they using blood for? And what exactly is the red weeds?
Other than that simple Spielberg classic.

Do I remove Windows Media Player from my computer?
The Microsoft website says one cannot remove it... now I'm starting to understand the reasoning behind some of the antitrust rulings. Is there a clever way of getting this pile of shit off my computer?
That or a way to make it correctly detect the way my media files are encoded, as they play fine in Media Player Classic but wont display video in WMP.
(This is even more confusing because it worked last night)
ugh

What's the secret to installing programs? I have never seen a less user-friendly system. I have not managed to install a single thing. I always get compile errors (and always different compiler errors). Luckily Ubuntu has a friendly add-remove system, but there are things I want that are not listed on the disk.
What is the damn secret? >:(

tonight is round 1 qualifying + testing
fastest time throughout the session gets pole for the race.
we'll be running collisions off so no one will have to worry about traffic.
we'll also be testing the formation lap and then the rolling start to make sure it works.
if it does great, if not we'll have a formation lap and then line up in the new order on the grid and for an agreed on time from the chrono for the start.
tweak your setups, get your cars ready to go (remember, one car no parts swapping, just tuning) so get a compromise between speed and handling. no tommy's no crx's
tonight is supposed to be road atlanta but a few of us think that the cutting will make it a bad track, lunatic angelic has suggested alpine ring or rio as the replacement. just wait for word from fraylo or lunatic.
gentlemen, tune those engines!

So I've decided that I'd like to at least somewhat learn a new language. What language I haven't decided yet, but something just to do. I won't have time for any classes and don't expect to become fluent so I'm probably going to have to use software/books.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

So....this game was going to be cool and I bought into the shack hype...so how do I make it fun?
Without fail I can get to 5 minutes and yet it has been impossible to get past 5:30...I've done it maybe once or twice in playing a hundred times or so. It like it is so easy and then BAM! so freaking hard. Am I missing something?

Is it configurable? like say i want 200kb/s to this ip and 300kb/s to this one if the connection is maxed out.
So I got my Inspiron 600m today, and guess what? The Intel 2200BG wireless card is crap. Total and utter garbage.
I futzed with it for 3 hours. Got the new drivers directly from Intel, tried both the Intel utility and WZC, and even uninstalled all other utilities on the system leaving just WZC. Toyed with the power management and so forth. I left no stone unturned.
This corresponds to this thread here: http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=10344970
And this Google search pretty much says it all:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Intel+2200BG%22+problems&btnG=Google+Search
After calling up Dell and getting quite angry with their voice recognition system, I was eventually transferred to a real Indian support person (I know, because I asked). She started the basic level-1 support stuff and I cut her off and told her that I didn't want to hear it. She asked me to tell her what I did to test it, so I gave her the lengthy version of everything I did... she then talked to her manager and said they would send me a new minipci wireless adapter -- TrueMobile 1350 b/g that is in use in some of the Latitudes.
So, Dell Menz, if you have the Intel 2200BG wireless card and it's annoying you, call Dell support and insist they send you the TrueMobile card as a replacement.
I should receive mine by Friday, according to them, and I just have to ship back the Intel card. Here's hoping this one works better.
Any TrueMobile 1350 menz here? It a solid card?

Here's the most recent update to The Book, in which we've recorded some of the clueless masses who rang our call centre. I've fixed a few errors and added a business name. Many LOLs to be had.

Spread it around - I know a few of us shackers work in telecommunications, they'll get a kick of of this.

Kinda looks like a cross between Burnout 3 and the old Lucky N Wild arcade game. Graphics look average at best, but could be fun if the bazooka blows stuff up well enough. :/

Anyone??
(I want the 4 real CPU's with HT enabled for 8 proc. goodness).
I take it that the Intels dual cores are 64 bit too? AMD's are dual core 64 bit right?
The apps my company wants to run are CPU intensive and we can currently throttle dual Xeons as is with too much calc's...
