BF2 MD5 Error

Installing from DVD, I get the following error message for a number of files:

MD5Error: {install path}\pyliaa68.rra, Retry?

The DVD is perfectly clean. Does MD5 have to do with punkbuster? It's always the same files. Anyone know how to rectify this problem or is it just a borked DVD?

Anyone else having problems with the game locking for about 10 to 15 seconds in multiplayer? I am getting low pings and the game runs great, but every 5 or 10 minutes I get this 10 sec pause and it's ruining an otherwise fun game for me. When I play in the single player game it DOES NOT do this so it's gotta be something with the network, the demo did not do this so I'm stumped. I have Cable selected in the game options and I have tried bypassing my router, turning down my graphics settings but no go.

I have the CD-ROM version sitting unopened next to me but I'm thinking about holding off and swapping it for the DVD-ROM version once EB Games gets more in stock. All the issues with the game makes me want to wait even more.

Maybe i'm missing something here, but why is it that it takes literally, 4 minutes to connect to the account server? And everytime it tells me server is full...is trying to automatically connect to an EA ranked server? Really fucking annoying....damn you EA, damn you to hell.

Commander Complaint

Why can't you click and drag to open a selection box? I know the squad hotkeys, but doing a selection marquee like most RTS's is absolutely needed.

And is anyone able to do commander actively while still playing the game? I feel like I'm stuck in the commander mode and have no time to go do other stuf.

I am sorry but the vast majority of the "home grown servers" are run by folks with sub standard hardware and connections. Even in your case 2m is only suitable for a 16 player server and that is assuming you are not using the connection.

I am not a supporter of EA at all, they never seen to do right by the consumer, but I can understand that with server side resource requirments of this game they clearly were not thinking about the "home grown server". Additionally all of these ports are needed for different services. Client connections to the game, gamespy broadcasting, global stats reportsing(only for ranked servers) and VOIP server.

In any event if you want to run a bf2 server on your home connection I would reccomend the D-Link gamers lounge router which from my experience seems to have no limitations on services or forwarded ports. It also allows you to specify priorities for network traffic.

Ive been having a couple problems w/ the interface, besides the typical ones. Ive switched from playing in fullscreen to windowed because the game looks very washed out in fullscreen (ive also noticed this in guild wars, is there any way to fix this?) Also, since ive started using windowed mode, the menu has shifted slightly, such as the words dont quite line up with the box, and i have to aim the cursor under the box to actually click on it. Come to think of it, ive noticed this occur in CS before too. Maybe my system is just gettin screwy?

I have WindowsXP home w/ SP1, A64 3000+ 1GB PC3200 RAM X800 Pro

I wonder what was going through DICE's mind when they decided BF2 needs to use so many damn freaking ports. Some of it is Gamespy (ugh) but most of it is the game. I wonder if the UI programmer is also the networking programmer?

I just upgraded my router for my server (Doublewide Trailerpark) -- even this new router only has ten forwarding slots -- that's not even enough for BF2. Hello DMZ ....

Umm so yea I was playing BF2 tonite and out of nowhere my screen got all garbled (crazy colors everywhere) and then my computer powered off.

What the HELL was that all about? This happend some time ago with BFV a lot but I upgraded my NFORCE drivers to 6.xx beta series and it seemed to go away. Only thing I've done since then is installe the 77.30 drivers that came with the beta, then the new 77.72 drivers NVIDIA just released (I have a GeForce 6800GT OC)

Any ideas / suggestions?

What'd i'd like to see.....64 plyr server limit, but maps sized for 32 players.

The maps, while very cool and impressive in their size, are not overly fun to me when everyone seems to be spread out and just doing the vehicular thing from point A to point B to point C and back to point A again (and repeat).

Is there/and if there is, a way to have the maps shrunk down to those of 32 plr size, but keep the ability to have 64 plyrs on the server and that'd be mad fun....at least to me....

How do you get co-op working? No access to internet on the two machines and we're trying to play the demo "co-op" versus some bots. I know I'm supposed to start a single player game and have my friend connect to my ip "manually" - but, how? There's no place to put in the ip. :(

I use my onboard audio (NForce-2) for my 5.1 surround sound, so it uses the line-in and mic ports. Is there a way to use a mic with a configuration like this, or do I have to get another card? If I have to get another card then I'll just play without the mic.

ok i'm done playing for tonight, serve wackiness aside it was a bunch of good games. UBER JIHAD turned out to be a successful squad venture (sound oooofffff!!!!!: JIHAD JIHAD!) and it was a nice run until the last level. We should've strapped C4 to the helicopter and made sucide runs into enemy positions, though....alas, theres always next time.

I got the game yesterday and after installing and playing single player for a while, i played multiplayer and was getting hard crashes. A brief flash, a beep, and my computer is rebooting. This only happened on multiplayer, sometimes id last 10 minutes, sometimes 1 minute on a server. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro, AMD 2800+, 1gig of ram btw.

not sure which solved it but after looking on planetbattlefield forums i did this:

1) updated my sata raid driver (via the device manager - not sure what it did but it said updated!)

2) changed the value of renderer.allowAllRefreshRates from 0 to 1 in Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Settings\VideoDefault.con

3) turned off fastwrites in video control panel.

ive played for about 2 hours now with no crashes.

I can't seem to make my mic work on this game. Its functioning fine, works in CS, I can record in Windows...but when I launch the voicecomm set up in BF2, I get nothing. I feel like I'm really missing out. That being said, this is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game since BF 1942 was released, and I have yet to even mess with the commander or squads. Also, I cant fly for shit, copters seem to work okay with my setup, but planes immediately crash and burn.

Two little issues:

- Nomination of Squad Leader. Sometimes I really don't want to play squad leader and apparently only the person who creates the squad and next person in line can only be the leaders. If the current leader quits, rejoins, and the next leader does the same... it auto-selects the first leader again. Ugh.

- Anti-Tank Gun Upgrade: You cannot shoot at all once you're reloading until you're done. There should be an ability to shoot even if you only have one shell in. This has killed me too many times playing this role. :(
