Restarting Steam will get you the latest Steam Update News, which mentions that new media will soon be available for Day of Defeat: Source as they are getting closer to release. That's not the only thing Valve has been working on though..

We've been pretty quiet about Day of Defeat: Source in the last few weeks. But new information and images from DoD: Source will be made available starting next week, as we lead to its release. We've been steadily working away on this project, and we're excited to see what everyone thinks of what we've produced. In the coming weeks we'll also be releasing a Source revived version of Half-Life 1: Deathmatch. People who already own Half-Life 1: Source will receive this as a free download.

Maybe the reason for it taking so long is that they've been working hard on new models n' stuff, making it look as good as Cs Source? The first images they released didn't seem to wow anybody, so maybe they've been spicing it up since then?

Kinda sucks, I was more interested in DoD Source than HL2 or CS. I never knew it would take this friggin long. Kind of misleading when they say coming soon and it's a year later and it's not close to release yet.

Source has issues with big outdoor environments. If the current crop of Source games are any sign, then Dod:Source will get walked over. Source modding tools are great though. We'll have to see if BF2 is as Mod friendly "out of the box". If it is, then my bet is on the BF2 engine.

I still want to know how we who bought HL2 at retail because they don't have a card that Steam will accept are going to play this. I'd buy it at retail if it was cheap and I'd buy it through steam if they added debit cards (Switch).
I played the first DOD from the first beta until about a year ago, so I'm keen to see the next version, but its far from essential.
