More E3 Game Impressions
by Alec Matias, Jun 01, 2005 9:51am PDTLooking back, it's pretty amazing how many games I was shown and how much information I picked up. I'm going through my notes here and there's just so much junk I wrote down, most of it illegible since I was writing it in pure darkness. Maybe I'll scan in the notes from games that I didn't get enough info on to warrant a full write-up. Think that'd be interesting? In any case, here are three new impressions from the show.
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC, Xbox 360)
- Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War (PC)
- Sonic Rush (DS)

The combat is much more interactive than it was in Morrowind.. Quite a few special attacks, including disarms, stuns, power attacks, etc. and active blocking make it sound like the combat is going to be lots of fun.. They've said from the beginning that they were going to make the combat much more interactive, because it was one of the major gripes people had about Morrowind.
For more info, check out the letter the Penny Arcade guys got from Oblivion's developers when they said basically the same thing about the combat.. It's at the bottom of the page here:
