Armed Assault Announcement
by Maarten Goldstein, May 19, 2005 8:41am PDTBohemia Interactive Studio today officially announced Armed Assault, though it's not a renamed Operation Flashpoint 2 as we previously reported. Instead it's a new franchise, though like OpFlashpoint, Armed Assault is about realistic combat gaming.

Yessiree..."Ofp2" -or whatever its called- can't come soon enough. I'll probaly end up buying AA and Xbox ofp to satisfy my desire for it.

The seem very similar to me in concept, only OpF seemed to trade off graphical quality for a much much larger battlefiled.

It's not a new saga, it's more like Ofp 1.5 with improved graphics and a new campaign. And new features, like join to a multiplayer game running.

Their website hasn't been updated (other than the press release.) It still has OFP2 and it doesn't have Armed Assault. (In the 'in progress' section.)
It looks like it's modern, (which is good), instead of VietNam (which isn't what I wanted), but too bad it's not 'near future' (which would have been great.)
Maarten said it's not OFP2 renamed. Does that mean they are doing both, or did they scrap OFP2 to make this instead?
I wish them nothing but success...and hopefully the multiplayer works better this time. I really want to have huge Army vs Army battles with full human tank crews on each side. (And voice comms built into the game...so you can talk to your army, or just your crew....yeah, that would rock.)
