How do people think playing as the Strogg will change the game? I'm not entirely sure why I'm spoiler tagging it, since it's the main crux of the trailer.
A narrative excuse for a very complex but cool HUD?
Super soldier performance? (Huge running, huge jumping?)
Just an excuse for some nifty weapons?
Some lightweight character upgrade system?

The E3 video shows this game will rock, and Raven has always produced fun games.
D3 was not a terrible game, though. The only lacking areas of the game were the innovation of gameplay and tedious level design. I loved the atmosphere and loved the graphics (except the blockhead character models.)
What Quake 4 really needs is outstanding gameplay. If its all about showing off the power of the D3 engine again, its going to bomb, tank, or just flat-out blow. We need well-design, interesting levels and a generous portion of old-scool quake I/II atmosphere. Since every interview or article I read mentions how they are working hard on the "quake feel" of the game, I'm not too concerned about that part.
I guess the bottom line for me is:
Build some decent, entertaining, and mentally stimulating levels. If you have those, then I am sure the game will rock. Otherwise, I won't buy it for the same reason I did not buy the D3 expansion pack. I've had enough of that type of gameplay.

Those saying the game looks too 'washed out' should be shot.........It's Quake !!! It'll always have a gloomy look.........
Quake Wars seems different becos the timeline is BEFORE Quake 2 (which means earth is still not pwned by the stroggs yet)...........i think.......

The Doom 3 engine can do *much* better than that!

There are lots of guns in the game that I can talk about, but there is a certain super-secret one that we're going to hold off on talking about at this point, but you'll see a return of the rail gun and the rocket launcher. In multiplayer, rocket jumping is all back in. You have the nail gun back... the blaster, the hyper blaster. You'll be able to use the nail gun to climb the walls, for example. We have the Quake III style physics and gameplay in the multiplayer, with the more robust Doom 3 physics technology

Note to the marketing guys, though: You messed up the nail in the Big Q. It has a flattened top.
Anyone know if there will be a difference between the PC and the Xbox version?
