More Official Details on Nintendo Revolution
by Alec Matias, May 17, 2005 7:27am PDTToday's issue of USA Today ran some of the first details on Nintendo's next-gen console and Revolution will be the final name. The machine is roughly two to three times as powerful as the GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan told USA Today. "It's about what you do with it." The online service will feature downloads of a wide range of Nintendo titles, from old classics like Donkey Kong to GameCube releases such as Super Mario Sunshine. No word yet on if they will be free of charge. "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming,'" said Kaplan. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."

with all those bogus-assed claims of being xyz times faster than the previous iterations of their respective consoles, MS and Sony are pulling the biggest b.s. card in a while.
Let us smart shackers realize that
these are claims that are obviously not under normal 'gaming' situations/circumstances. graphics haven't been loaded, physics haven't been calculated, sound/soundtrack isn't/aren't going off, etc etc.
they're probably benchmarking their consoles on the stupidest algorithms that'll make my TI-82 grapher look faster than an xbox or ps2.

looks cute! deciding factor for me: controller.
The GameCube's controller is the one thing that made me hate the system with a passion.. i just could NOT use it..

The big N has a great ratio between good games and crap games. Though I dont own a cube and I own a ps2 I think Nintendo is far from dying.

The vibe I'm getting right now is that they aren't prepared for the next generation style nor do they like it. It seems Revolution will be much less powerful intentionally.
This makes sense after hearing Denis Dyack's bitching about Nintendo, after SK left second party. He pretty much said they aren't looking toward big budget future titles, and are sticking to basic games.
