All sorts of fun facts coming out of Microsoft's E3 2005 Xbox 360 press event. Story will be updated as they come in.

Xbox 360 will have limited backward compatability. Only the most popular Xbox games will be supported, through an emulator.
Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy XI on the 360, with Live support. First of several Square Enix games on the platform.
More than 160 games are in development.
During a 90 day launch window Microsoft hopes that between 25 and 40 Xbox 360 games are released.
You can buy movies and music online through the 360
All games must support 720p, a 16:9 aspect ratio, anti-aliasing and 5.1 multi channel sound.

So far, MSFT is doing the exact same thing as with Xbox. Building some solid hype, delivering the games, incredible online service, etc. The only thing I am worried about right now is that most people (and I don't mean most people on the shack btw) won't buy the X360 this year. There's just no need for it yet, plus people will want to wait to see how PS3 will actually be.

It's funny because if it was the other way around, PS3 would have sold tons this year since the PS2 is aging so much. Either way, seems to me that MSFT just can't win, whatever they do.

      Yeah but good and best selling don't always coincide - so there might be games he thinks are awesome, wants compatibility for, but that flopped commercially, so don't get it.
