Updated Dawn of War Mod Tools

1

Relic sends along version 1.10 of their Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War mod tools. This new release supports v1.3 of the game, and comes with tools and a utility to assist modders in the conversion from 1.2 to 1.3 data.

    MOD Idea:
Somebody needs to make a mod to model the board game, or at least get similar to it.

    Hear me out:

Game server sets army max point value, then each team picks their units (which will all be assigned a value, either based on the tabletop game, or balanced based on the dev's whims (RTS won't ever translate perfectly to turn-based anyway)), and then starts out, and has to kill each other.

There will be a time limit (as per the board game, but the server can turn this off), and points will be doled out at the end based on kills/survived units, control of the battlefield, etc. Just like the board game.

The default game speed will probably be turned down alot, to allow for more strategy and less omgzergrushkekeke.

This gametype will bypass the build order (probably the thing I hate most about RTS's nowadays) and resource management. You can enter in some other gametypes too, like one team is vastly underpowered, and has to hold out for 5 minutes before reinforcements arrive. Or one team is underpowered and has the superior defensive position.

Anyway, this mod would be relatively easy to develop (compared to some of those mods I've seen design documents for), and it would rock hard tasty abs washerboard style.
