I believe that they are making the UE3 very flexible for use for a wide range of games, more like renderware etc and game genres that in the past were behind in cutting edge graphics can now be right up there.
Also rpgs and such do now require high frame rate such as fps games, which is going to be in there favour, its all well and good having a great engine for a fps game but gamers need high fps for it to be playable, devs can really push the envelop with this tech and games that can get by with a "normal" real time 20 - 30fps.
