I think this game will fall into obscurity when its finally released in 2006.

I'm still looking forward to this game.. the concept of having an AI try to beat the game before you sounds so good, I just hope they actually implement these ideas.

I wanted to like it, but the gameplay they showed was nothing special. All stuff we've been able to do since Half-Life 1.

Then again it may turn to a kick ass game is they can fix somethings.
It was a lightmapped, DX7-ish FPS before, now it appears to have normalmaps on everything, dynamic lights/shadows via shadow buffers (ala COD2).
I predict the next batch of DNF shots will look exceedingly bumpy similar.
I agree that they definately missed their opportune release date, but this could still end up being cool. I could care less if HL2 looks slightly better. If this thing delivers the open-ended, non-linear gameplay it's been promising, then I will play it!

Just saw the DX9 trailer, most convincing environments I have seen in a long time.

but when it does come out it will still be graphically very good for what is currently out. I'm more interested in it for the gameplay anyway.

The content of the footage was fairly conventional FPS stuff, though.
It looks like it will be fun.
I played the MP setup at quakecon last year, it was really good. Polished and ready to go then. Get the AI working, get the gameplay solid, stop the feature creep and get it out the door. :(
i second all of the above
the game looks dated now
models look far too rough, not even close to far cry or HL2 quality.
they need to stop sending out those screengrabs.
