Far Cry 64-Bit Patch

Ubisoft has released a Far Cry 64-bit patch, which runs on Windows XP Pro x64 systems for those of you with an AMD64 or Intel EM64T enabled system. A content pack is available as well, featuring improved textures, increased view distance and detail, and two new multiplayer maps. Anand Tech takes a look at the performance, as well as the visual difference.

Bleh, not going to invest in a 64 bit processor anytime soon. Not that I don't want to, but I just don't see the performance increase warranting me to buy into it, not without more widespread support in drivers.

We could've used the increased view distance back in 1.1; I hate having to go to binoculars to line up a shot because the renderer decides to not draw the merc that's half a kilometer away. And what good are bonus multiplayer maps if I'm forced to stay back in 1.1 so the AG36 grenade launcher isn't nerfed in single player?

Does anyone play this on multiplayer? Last time I played Far Cry multi, it was a 16 player deathmatch on a map about the same size as a Battlefield1942 map with random respawn locations... basically it sucked.

this is a rip, because most of the extras in the 64bit version load down the GPU, NOT the cpu.
