Following the release of the Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 840 and dual-core Opterons, AMD is soon releasing the Athlon 64 X2, a line of dual-core processors for desktop machines. Still not substantially amazingly mindblowingly better than my 18 month old P4 3.0 ...... until I see 50% more speed in _everything_ and 80% more multitasking speed and for under 250$ US per cpu - I won't even consider upgrading.

Yay for slow tech curve - rocks as a consumer :)

Wow, does Intel have anything to compete with this? They still own the integrated market, but man someone over there has got to be worried. Their upcoming dual-core stuff has heat and power problems, while AMD does WELL in those two areas. Go dudes! And Intel SLI cant compete with AMD SLI...what's going to turn it 'round for them?

It sure looks like amd fixed the problem with dual core gaming. I may actually get one of these instead since they have similar numbers to the high end FX series.
