Got a 49 (almost 50) NE hunter so i am not one of those 60's that seem to have got a new soul purpose in life: ganking. I have solo'ed, party'ed and instance'd the past days and sure i got ganked a few times (Blasted Lands was very cosy) but i finally people play the way it should be played: TOTAL WAR!
Couldn't stand players solo'ing side by side with the other faction on a pvp server. When i (we) see a player of another faction, he will get my arrows up his ass. Simple as that. I expect the same from hordeplayers that see mee walk around all by myself (or in a group).
The raids are also mucho fun. Finally people start fighting eachother, destroying cities, etc. You get your MMO's money's worth.
If you wanna quest and/or feed your leveladdiction do not join a PVP server. Or just use the instances. Nothing wrong with that. But in the PVP realms... *cues boltthrower tune* this time it's waaaaaaaaaaar!
However, I don't get all these whiny ass bitches complaining about the Honor System. :) I have a 46 rogue on one of the most crowded PvP-servers, and I'm having an absolute blast, despite the fact that I get killed in unfair fights a lot.
-Do I get killed more? Yes, indeed I do. I was offered a chance to play on a PvE-server from the very start.
-Is questing and exping harder? Yes, it indeed is. I was offered a chance to play on a PvE-server from the very start.
I've played every big MMO since UO beta to some extent at least and the one thing I've discovered is that the less rules there are, the more fun I end up having in the end. It IS a PvP-server. While there were no rewards for killing other players in the start, everyone knew such things were coming, and now that they did, people start realizing that choosing a PvP-server just because it felt like "the manly thing to do" was a stupid move, if you can't handle being killed. Yes, it can get frustrating being killed by 30 people and yes, it can get frustrating being killed by people way above your level, but to me, it would be ten times as frustrating if Blizzard somehow turned the already somewhat limited PvP of the PvP-servers into some kind of a half-assed carebear version of what it should be. I and every single whiner CHOSE a PvP server, and now that they actually turned them into what PvP servers should be, people are crying and whining like it was somehow unreasonable - yeah right, go and try a PvP server in Asherons Call and then come tell me about lack of rules or limitations. :)
Imo, Blizzard should offer players a chance to switch from PvP to PvE servers, implement Battlegrounds and see what happens. I have a feeling the current system will serve pretty damn well for those players that truly knew what they were doing when they chose to play on a PvP-server, the manly server. And men don't cry. Or whine. But you can. Like I said in the start. Go ahead. Whine. :)
How about actually fixing the latency and or framerate problems instead of try to dodge the question
Once players understand how the Honor System works and how they should best be utilizing their time in order to gain its rewards, we expect that you will not be in any more danger than you were before the addition of the Honor System (possibly less).
That is the problem, no one understands how the honor system works because there is no instant feedback except for kill count. Imagine if when you killed a mob it didnt tell you how much XP you got until the end of the week and all you saw was a kill counter, what do you think people would do?
Despite a very common misconception, Horde and Alliance numbers are pretty well balanced on PvP realms.
Oh, I guess it just SEEMS that way then, mmm hmmm, it's all in our heads, and all the tools that take a census of wow player that the public can use must have a bug where most servers show up as mostly Alliance.
We're taking our first step towards a dishonor system upon the release of the next patch. Trivial civilian NPCs such as quest givers and vendors will now give dishonor points to players that prey upon them. We haven't decided upon a specific penalty but it will be enough that the majority of players will not wish to engage in combat with those NPCs. This combined with the fact that upon the release of Battlegrounds most players will not be targeting towns or unsuspecting adventurers nearly as often, should reduce the need to add too much more in the way of a penalty, or dishonor.
Yeah, thats what people have been complaining about, lvl 60s ganking level 30 bakers and cook NPCs, right. Please fix the real problems. If you didn't have the forsight to see that the honor system with no dishonor is not an honor system at all and just 60s running around killing lowbies then I don't know how the hell you are in a position to make these decisions. Again Battlegrounds keeps getting thrown around. If battlegrounds is gong to save the honor system, then why the hell wasn't it released side by side with the honor system?
The initial data has not indicated that any one class has dramatic advantages over another. I believe this train of thought to be spawned from the confusion surrounding how players rise in rank.
Shouldn't this sytem have been designed in a way that players could actually know what was going on? If they don't then it seems very flawed.
As a side note, one of the things we're adding in the next patch along with Battlegrounds is a new combat log message which will appear after each kill informing you of your estimated contribution points for a kill when it happens. This number will be slightly crude, as it doesn't factor in players killed under the diminishing return rule but it will provide players with a better understanding of how the system works and how valuable a given kill is.
THANK GOD! It really shouldn't be a side note, this is the most important part of the Q&A

Good riddance, Mal'Ganis is kiddy ridden anyhow.
This "honor" system has pretty much just given the smacktards a rewards structure for doing things like camping instance entrances, key quest points, zeppelin towers, and flight points in contested zones. While these things happened in the past, there was no benefit to it so it was only done by those hardcore greifers who just get their jollies from pissing everyone off.
IMO, Kalgan is a deludinoid who needs to get a grasp of the WoW community quickly or risk losing a hell of a lot of casual (and some not-so-casual) gamers to Guild Wars, CoH (when issue 4 hits), their significant others, real life...etc.
I'm done with my PvP server until a pvp dishonor system is implemented. I enjoy an even pvp fight, but a 60 v/s 20 isnt fun.
