If you've got the time to screw around with goolge maps. I searched up the white house. 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC. And went looking around. If you go down on the map (not like that) till you see the Washington monument then head right you come across a blurred out section of the map, interesting.

Let's look at Xbox 360 (terrible name BTW and I hope they change it). You'll have full online capabilities in every game, whether it's playable or just Live Aware. You'll have full VoIP in every online game. You'll have 720p and 1080i resolution. Real-time 5.1 sound.
Really the only pluses I see for the PC is keyboard + mouse control, user mods, and upgradablity. But for $300, a next-gen console is going to deliver a hell of a lot. It's kind of sad. I've always been a PC gamer and will always play games on that platform, but when a system for $300-400 drops with most of my PC's power, it's hard to resist.
Take current games like Splinter Cell: CT, or Star Wars: Battlefront. Sure I could buy them for PC. I'd get slightly better graphics on my 6800 (which cost me $300), and mouse control. On Xbox I'd get to play it on my large HDTV, in 5.1, with VoIP. It's a hard choice sometimes. Heck even Doom 3 is a fun experience on Xbox. And the goddamn system has 64MB of total memory. I can't imagine what will be done with a 512MB system like Xbox 2.

I know I could ask on the official message boards, but I've seen the place and prefer the shack crowd.
in reply because it's rather lengthy.

Open source products seem to have the best success when they tackle applications that are well defined and universally used. A prime candidate under this definition is email. In April, Netline AG will launch a commercial version of its open source email product called Open-Xchange. Netline claims that Open-Xchange has 90-95 per cent of the functionality of Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint - providing most of its groupware functions including calendar, contacts, to dos, shared projects and documents, shared knowledge, forums, bookmarks, and web mail.
I wonder if it's more secure than Exchange, and if it'll stand up to legal scrutiny from Microsoft once they register as a blip on the Redmond Radar.
Microsoft has accepted most of the conditions set by the European Commission to bring the software vendor into compliance with last year's anti-trust ruling.
Brad Smith, Microsoft's general counsel, told the FT: "There were 26 areas where the Commission wanted changes to be made and we were able to say yes to 20 of those requests. Even on the remaining six, significant progress was made. I am hopeful that we will get closure within the next two to three weeks."
Smith said the firm was still trying to balance protecting its intellectual property with giving open source developers the access they need to create applications which will work with Microsoft servers.
Microsoft sent us the following statement: "Microsoft has undergone a thorough re-examination of the program to identify areas where the company can make changes to address the commission's concerns.
"Of the 26 areas where the Commission had concerns, we have accepted or offered proposals to address their concerns for 20 of these issues. Of the six that remain, it is a matter of working our way through them with the Commission as soon as possible.
In other words, "We must make the EU STFU as soon as possible so we can go back to making money hats and taking over the world!"

Studio Liverpool's communcation manager Nino Ceraolo recently confirmed new downloadable content for Wipeout Pure, a recently released launch game for the PSP.
12 new tracks, four new ships, and several other upgrades await players. "When the packs are downloaded, they'll integrate into the game to make new tournaments," says Ceraolo. Four of the twelve new tracks will be remakes of levels from previous games with a Pure makeover, and another four will be those that were originally designed to go into the game disc, but were marked for download.
The website will provide even more content, such as the ability to remix and then download your own music tracks, and download new billboard designs. To aquire this content, PSP and Wipeout owners must simply connect to the Wipeout website with their PSP, or transfer the files via USB.

I picked up ESPN MLB 2k5 today. Too bad it has Sammy Sosa still in the line up for the Cubs. But I didn't even get through a full fucking game. Dirty disk errors EVERYWHERE. We had a 2-2 game going with STL v Cubs and it was just amazing. I had just tied it with a HR in the 5th and I pitched out of bases loaded 1 out in the 4th.

This fucking TV is seriously one of the best impulse buys I've ever done, I'm in love with it. I've only tried it out in HDTV and progressive scan mode with video games, but it just looks awesome. Anyways, here are some before and after pix.

Yesterday was "feats of strength" and they had a bench-press competition. No one could go over 110, but one guy benched 90 3 times. And for being the strongest, they eliminated him.

After four years of working graveyard shift maintenance, in one of the world's biggest sawmills, I am finally being put on a production shift to 'chase whistles'. A fitting analogy is that of a doctor working for years on cadavers, and then suddenly being thrust into an emergency ward.
There is a bizarre intensity, a complete wash of terror every time you are called into action. It could be something as simple as a drive chain coming off a sprocket, or a set of belts roasting when something jams. Or, it could be a critical piece of machinery that requires a massive and complex job to replace a high speed bearing on a three ton sidehead.
Of course, every minute of downtime on a main line costs upwards of $30,000. You will be fixing something with 20 people standing up on catwalks watching you, most of them high up superintendants, foremen, and people watching just to make you sweat.
Being a rookie in a lot of aspects of emergency millwrighting, it has the potential to be very intense. It is almost a drug, I like it and fear it at the same time. After many years you will be numb to it, but it's a neat job for the time being.
