I once read a post of yours a long while ago that your philosophy was that the combat and the basics were just the boring stuff in action games you did in between the cool shit. I am wondering if you still hold to this?
The reason I ask, is because of late I have been noticing disturbing design trends in action games, that I think hurt our beloved genre greatly. I am reffering to tactics such as making the player backtrack through whole levels (or even a whole chapter, like Halo did after the library) or spawning legions upon legions of enemies at you just to keep you busy and pad out the development time.
I hate this, I think it's stupid, boring unimaginative and most importantly too easy a copout, meanwhile games are getting shorter too. Tell me you still think what you said you thought back then - because damn you seem to be more or less alone in that :p

PSP mens
i need you to check something out for me...i'm a little confused about the speakers on my psp. there are 2 front firing ones and 2 down firing ones right? but for some reason all the sound seems to be comming from the down firing speakers.
i realized this because when i'm playing a game or watching a movie, my thumbs sometimes accidentally cover the down firing ones and the sound gets really muffled. i was reading the manual and just realized they only mention the 2 front firing ones (no label for the down firing ones in the diagram). but for some reason, i can't hear any sound comming from them.
so i play a game and watch some movies and cover the front speakers with my fingers to test them. the sound levels remain exactly the same and i feel no vibration comming from these speakers at the loudest volume! i try it with the down firing ones and the sound gets muffled... WTF?
it can't be just this one unit either, because i had a first one i exchanged and it exibited the same behaviour...although at the time, i just thought there were only 2 speakers for the psp and they were the ones at the bottom.

Got myself a Char-Broil Sierra smoker/barbeque and so far it's been
fantastic. I tried my hand at slow cooking using the firebox to indirectly
cook some ribs and lamb chops (two different nights). I have a book I'm
reading and it tells me that is should take between 45 and 55min to cook the
chops (rare) at 200-225F. I was at 325F (according to my thermometer) for 2
hours before I gave up and "cheated" by moving the chops next to the firebox
side of the grill and basically ended up grilling the darn things so my
family wouldn't starve to death. Even then thick areas of the meat where
rare/medium rare.
Some quick info on the cook:
- used a full chimney of lump charcoal for fuel, adding half a dozen or so
approx every 20min or so.
- started with damper system (firebox + chimney opposite side of grill) at
1/4 then opened it up 100% after an hour of cooking and realizing the meat
was not cooking.
- opened only once (1 hour in) to check things out.
The American Gourmet Smoker is the same style smoker I'm using except mine
is larger at 492 square inches.

don't keep your excess games in your pocket without the case. i brought my other game along with me and it was in my pocket for.. an hour as i was walking down the street, i pull the game out and look at it and IN THE FUCKING CADDY are pieces of dirt and lint. like, between the cd and the plastic. son of a bitch. so i spend the next 30 minutes shaking the fuck out of it trying to get it all out.
please, someone make a decent case where i can put my games in as well.

ive been having connection problems the last few weeks where ill just lose my ip.. i thought it was my modem but my router is apparently blocking a few connections every second, all fucking day. wtf?
im guessing this is probably a virus, i havent pissed off anyone enough to have them devote the time and effort to attack me non stop for 2 weeks from a couple dozen different ips..
my router doesnt show what it is though so im not sure.. just crap like

The controls annoy me. They annoy me so much and are so unresponsive that I feel more like I'm watching a movie. It's almost like playing the old game "Dragon's Lair" where you really don't get to control anything -- except during brief pre-defined windows of time when pressing 1 or 2 buttons will change the outcome of a situation.
Oh, one more thing. I hate games where you must die one or more times before the "secret" of how to defeat the boss or solve a puzzle is revealed. Meh.

Okay folks, I have decided I like electronic/techno style music. I know nothing about this genre besides it sounds cool on my car stereo.
