Late Night Consoling

by Alec Matias, Mar 25, 2005 8:00pm PST

I'm glad to see the end of this week; I am just 100% pooped. Who thought playing videogames could be this tiring? Luckily, the PSP launch lineup largely consists of games that are decent to above average, so I haven't been forcing myself through many stinkers, which would cause a deep depression. I took a nap after my second PSP article went up today and I realized I totally forgot to talk about Ridge Racer! To surmise, it's good stuff, definitely the racing game to get. Sadly, it may be the toughest PSP game to get; here in Orlando, unless you pre-ordered, you're S.O.L. and Steve was telling me that he wasn't finding any where he lives. He did pick up Lumines, so that should keep him busy, and if it doesn't, it would further prove he has zero taste for quality entertainment.

Two will be made available for free, courtesy of Mountain Dew, sometime in late April. However, if you hold out until the end of summer, all maps will be available for free. This game will keep the same style of gameplay found in Stranger's Wrath and the story revolves around Fangus' attempt at defending his home from invading forces, all while fighting back symptoms of rabies. According to developers, it's possible that the game will land a Mature rating when it's released sometime next year. Electronic Arts will not publish the title.
  • PSP's Warranty Does Cover Dead Pixels

    [psp]
Many gamers were up in arms over the rumored fact that Sony would not repair PSPs with dead pixels. The rumor started from a supposed e-mail from a Canadian game store, but GameSpot contacted Sony directly and received the whole story. "According to a technical support associate contacted by GameSpot, PSP owners who encounter a persistent and aggravating dead-pixel issue should contact SCEA's customer service line (1-800-345-7669) for instructions on how to exchange their unit after a week or two of using the unit. 'We will work with you,' he assured."
