Another Tabulu Rasa Delay
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 28, 2005 11:54am PSTMMO publisher NCSoft announced financial results ($77 million profit on $246 million in revenues in 2004) today, as well as release plans for fiscal 2005 but one game not appearing on that list is Tabulu Rasa. The Richard Garriot MMORPG has been delayed a few times already, and an NCSoft spokesperson confirmed its likely the game wont see the light of day until 2006 now.

Watch the trailer, it looks quite weird.

TR might be having troubles but the delay is good I think. It'll just flop now if it came out now anyway. Any mmorpg released in the next three to six months will flop due to WoW.
That is, until I started reading the interviews and previews....
I'm worried now that this game sounds so strange and sci-fi that it's actually going to turn people off.
Examples:
Instruments for weapons?
The ability to fully change character looks at any time? (griefing anyone?)
This was BEFORE WoW came out. With a new (unproven) story and the high sci-fi atmosphere, what is it going to compete with? Anarchy Online? Unless things have drastically changed since last E3, I don't see this game succeeding. Even with all that said, I still hope it does well. It would be nice for Garriot to throw something back into EA's face. I guess if anyone can pull it off it's him.

Does anyone know for sure?
If they are making 77 million after they pay for services, support, and ongoing development, I can't help but think this 15/mo standard is a little too high...
