Battlefield 2 Screenshots
by Maarten Goldstein, Feb 18, 2005 4:46pm PSTThe guys at Total Battlefield 2 let us know that the latest Battlefield 2 newsletter is online. We saw some new screenshots just a few days ago but here are 22 more screenshots which look really good (12 come from the newsletter, the other 10 from an update to the main site). The February newsletter also contains the second part of a video interview with producer Scott Evans talking about system specs, weapons and multiplayer.

If so, I can't help finding the whole thing a bit morbid, after the last year, and following the events of the Iraq invasion and subsequent occupation.
I can't imagine playing something like this when I can so vividly visualize the insane real world violence over there, thanks to news media and "from the front" reports.
FYI, I'm officially "gettin' too old for this shit" I think. Going to stick with shooting zombies and aliens, I think. In no way do I think everyone should feel like I do... same thing happened to me w/ WW2 games... read one too many Ambrose books and started to identify the events with real people, and blammo the fun just blew out of WW2 games for me.

This is the second sequel to Battlefield 1942 in two years. The original was so fresh, different and so much fun--I had more fun in big BF1942 Shackbattles than in any other game, almost--and now it's been gobbled up into more of EA's bueracratic "find something that works and milk it dry" mindset :(
My friends I say to you we are leaving the golden age of gaming. As much as we'd love them to stay around, small dedicated gaming companies like id, Valve, Blizzard are are their way out :(

Far better than anything HL2:Source has to offer so far.
CS:S sucks graphics wise and Doom 3 has no mutiplayer.
HL2:DM has nice graphics but somewhat boring gameplay wise.
Bring on the BF:2!

but the visibility distance in open terrain is not really satisfying, imho...
Looks like with the amount of weapons and vehicles the game will be a bitch to balance.
