Nice to see Valve deliver on a promise with that HL2DM update showing up on time. Too bad I still can't play it though, as my copy randomly stopped working about a week ago. Everytime I join a server and it's nearly completed loading, the game just stalls. I click the Options screen, and the game just locks. I have deleted all the GCF files and forced Steam to download them again, I have forced Steam to verify the files, I deleted the actual hl2dm/hl2 dirs but no dice. When I have the console open the last thing I see before it locks is "missing vgui material - vgui/gfx/vgui/crosshair". Unfortunately Valve's Steam tech support section is of little help. Sad panda. Update: Fixed! Had nothing to do with that particular missing vgui material message, instead it was sound related. One of my sound settings in Windows was set to Record through TotalRecorder, and that bugged out the Source engine. I hadn't really thought of looking for that until Erik at Valve suggested I run with -nosound, which made the problem go away. Now I have some crowbar skull bashing to do. Also on FileShack
