Republic Commando GONE GOLD

GameSpot is reporting that the Unreal engine powered squad-based action game Star Wars: Republic Commando has gone gold, and will ship to stores March 1st. Both the Xbox and PC version will retail for $49.99. On FileShack you can find a singleplayer demo and a ton of gameplay movies. The game's official website can be found here.

God the demo was one of the worst things ever put out. I can't understand how come Lucasarts can release stuff that's so far from being finished. These guys would've needed A) 3 more months to polish the game B) stop all Halo2 imitation and do a good game instaed (looking at HL2 would've been way better a choice).

I'm afraid there have been very few good Lucasarts games of late. I'm pretty sure that the pretty screenshots will be just as lifeless in game as out. You can dress up these games, but they appear to lack any verve :(.

I thought the demo was fine once I learned how to disable that awful mouse smoothing. It's funny how minor issues can totally change the game experience.

I'm so happy they're making good franchise games now.

Let's hope this is one of them.

then again, all these franchise games may be a sign of a stagnant industry (no creativity?)
