Fallout 3 Q&A

12

Duck and Cover has a new Q&A with Bethesda's Todd Howard, asking him about Fallout 3. Nothing really too specific though, as the game is still in pre-production and ways off.

As long as they stick to the basic formula that made the originals so badass I don't see how it could suck, Bethesda seems to know their stuff. That doesn't mean its going to be better than the originals of course.

So now that its first person, real time and using Bethesda NPCs (a far cry from the good NPCs of the original Fallouts) what exactly is left? =\

Bethesda NPCs? They've seen the errors they made with Morrowind, and are fixing them in Oblivion, why assume they wouldn't do the same for Fallout?

They talked big with Morrowind and didn't deliver in a lot of those areas. I'm not putting much stock in what they say will be in Oblivion (especially in regards to AI since every game ends up screwing that up) and I'll just wait till it actually comes out. Until then I'll go with their previous product and that doesn't leave me with high hopes for the Fallout legacy. Obviously I'm hoping I'm wrong but I'm not going to get too excited either.

I'm unclear what was so good about the Fallout NPCs.

You could have sex with some of them.

They were good. More to the point, Morrowinds were some of the worst I've ever seen.
