S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Delay

According to the German THQ news page, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has been delayed once again. The game has suffered multiple release slips already, and is no longer expected to be released this May. GSC Game World PR manager Oleg Yavorsky is quoted as saying the developer is happy to be granted extra development time by publisher THQ, and they will use the extra time to make sure the game lives up to the expectations of the fans.

Thye turn the hype back on, but not until then.
Too bad the gamer sites (including this one) wont just boycott

Vaporware..

Just release a stinking demo already, I've already seen enough locations over the past 3 years where the viewdistance is like a mile. How hard can it be to just box up one little section of the game and release it so we can see if it lives up to the hype or not. Even if it's just multiplayer, something would be better than endless FAQ's and pushbacks...

Every time a game looks far ahead of its time it gets delayed until every game offers the things that made the first game unique. By the time Stalker hits the shelves it will no longer be all that and a bag of chips, it'll be just another pretty shooter.

actually, i didn't see one part of in-game footage so far that let me say:"oh, this game really has potential".. besides good graphics.

weapons, enemies, nice scripted sequences. nothing. nothing which set off a memorable moment, imo. but this life simulation system could be interesting. well.. let's wait and see...

Instead of announcing delays every few months, why don't they just switch to a "When it's done" release date and go on a media blackout ala 3DRealms and DNF? That would save their marketting department a whole lot of hassle, and would prevent over-hype.

Seriously, the screenshots and Q&A's are just not going to cut it anymore--especially when nothing in this game has changed in about 2 years.
